SANITATION EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Under the moderation supervision of the Sanitation Superintendent, perform intermediate skilled trades work operating heavy equipment in the collection of waste and recyclables, performing equipment inspection and minor repair, performing dump site and landfill maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Drive and operate sanitation collection truck on prescribed route, picking up refuse and transporting to appropriate facilities; drive and operate garbage packer, boom truck, front end loader and other heavy equipment.
• Perform pre-trip safety inspections on trucks and heavy equipment, check fluids, tires, lights, etc.
• Operate heavy equipment in the operation and maintenance of the department's facilities, haul brush and debris.
• Perform light preventative and general maintenance on vehicles, clean and gas vehicles.

Qualifications:

• Valid State Driver's License – CDL Class A or B required
• Possession of or ability to obtain Flagger Certification within one year of hire.
• Required pre-employment screenings include a criminal background check, motor vehicle history, and drug screening.

This position is full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for the City of Newnan's remarkably comprehensive benefits package, including:

Starting base rate is $19.00 hr. Rate of pay determined based on experience.
