Job Purpose
The SAP Integration Consultant (CPI / API) is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions using SAP Integration Suite (SAP CPI) and API Management technologies. The role ensures secure, scalable, and reliable connectivity between SAP and non-SAP systems, enabling digital transformation initiatives and seamless business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Development and Delivery
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain integration solutions using SAP Integration Suite (CPI).
- Build and manage interfaces between SAP and external systems through REST, SOAP, OData, IDoc, RFC, SFTP, APIs, and web services.
- Develop reusable integration flows, mappings, middleware components, and integration services.
- Configure message transformation using XML, JSON, XSLT, and Groovy scripting.
- Participate in the complete integration lifecycle including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Ensure integration solutions are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
API Management
- Develop, publish, and maintain enterprise APIs.
- Implement API security standards including OAuth, certificates, tokens, and authentication controls.
- Manage API lifecycle activities including versioning, monitoring, governance, and consumption management.
- Promote API reuse and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
Operations and Support
- Monitor SAP CPI environments and resolve integration failures and performance issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support transport and deployment activities across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
- Ensure compliance with governance, audit, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with business teams, SAP functional consultants, infrastructure teams, and external vendors.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical integration solutions.
- Support SIT, UAT, regression testing, and production validation.
- Provide technical recommendations during project planning and solution design.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- SAP certifications in SAP Integration Suite / SAP CPI are preferred.
- Additional certifications in API Management, Cloud Integration, or Middleware Technologies are an advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in SAP integration, middleware, or enterprise application integration.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SAP CPI / Integration Suite and API Management.
- Experience integrating SAP and non-SAP platforms.
- Experience in enterprise, government, or digital transformation environments is preferred.
