SAP NS2 Senior Manager, Enterprise Observability Engineering

Location: This is a hybrid position reporting to our Herndon, VA or Newtown Square, PA office a few days per week.
Role Overview
The Enterprise Observability Leader is a high-visibility role responsible for the architecture, engineering, and operation of our patented Observability Platform—the definitive intelligence hub for the health, performance, and resilience of the SAP NS2 Sovereign Cloud.
This leader will drive the transition from traditional, reactive monitoring to a proactive, predictive ecosystem. You will lead a high-performing engineering team to build the "central nervous system" of our business, ensuring that every layer of our sovereign stack is visible and optimized through the integration of Advanced AI and Data Operations.
Core Responsibilities
Enterprise Observability Core & Architecture

Platform Stewardship: Manage the full lifecycle of our patented Observability Platform and shared enterprise utilities (e.g., Dynatrace, Prometheus).

Telemetry Infrastructure: Oversee the engineering of scalable ingestion pipelines utilizing OpenTelemetry (OTel) and high-velocity data routing to ensure high-fidelity telemetry flow across all cloud environments.

Federated Operational Model: Act as the primary architect of our central stack, providing the standards and core platform while empowering Product Lines to lead their domain-specific configurations.
AI-Driven Operational Intelligence

Intelligent Correlation: Direct the development of AI-driven correlation engines to synthesize millions of raw data points into high-context "Enterprise Incidents," drastically reducing signal noise and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).

Predictive Health Analytics: Shift organizational focus toward identifying anomalous patterns that signify potential service degradation before customer impact occurs.

Automated Remediation: Lead the engineering of intelligent triggers that allow the platform to suggest or execute automated recovery steps.
Strategic Governance & Advisory

Observability Council Leadership: Serve as a key partner to the Observability Council, collaborating with leadership representatives to define enterprise Health Scores and global data standards.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Champion: Drive the adoption of SRE principles across the organization, providing institutional blueprints for SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets.

Data-Driven Transparency: Maintain real-time dashboards that highlight coverage gaps and operational risks, providing leadership with the facts necessary to drive continuous improvement.
Team Leadership & Capability Building

Strategic Personnel Management: Mentor and lead a team of seven technical experts, transitioning the group’s focus from manual support tasks to high-value platform engineering.

Workload Optimization: Audit team activities to eliminate maintenance silos and automate routine tasks, reclaiming engineering hours for strategic growth initiatives.

Shared Responsibility Model: Enforce the principle that visibility is a prerequisite for support. While your team provides the core platform, you will ensure Product Lines remain accountable for their specific implementation and service health.

Technical Baseline Audits: Lead regular operational audits to ensure the platform scales with business requirements, sovereign security standards, and FedRAMP compliance.
Preferred Qualifications

Engineering Leadership: Deep experience in cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.

Observability Expertise: Proven SME-level knowledge of the ELK stack, APM suites (Dynatrace), and modern telemetry standards (OTel).

AI/ML Integration: Understanding of how large-scale telemetry data is utilized by AI models for advanced correlation and anomaly detection.

Strategic Communication: Ability to translate complex technical roadmaps into business value for executive leadership.

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 176300- 374200(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
