SAP OData & ABAP Developer

Job Purpose

The SAP OData & ABAP Developer is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting SAP applications and integration services using ABAP programming and OData technologies. The role focuses on building scalable backend services, APIs, business applications, and seamless integrations across SAP and external systems while ensuring performance, security, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

ABAP Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain SAP applications using ABAP programming.
• Develop custom reports, enhancements, forms, interfaces, conversions, and workflows.
• Build and maintain ABAP Objects, classes, function modules, BADIs, user exits, and enhancement frameworks.
• Develop technical specifications and convert functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance and improve existing SAP developments.

OData Services Development

• Design and develop OData services to enable communication between SAP and frontend applications.
• Build and expose APIs using SAP Gateway and OData protocols.
• Develop and maintain CRUD operations and service integrations.
• Configure and troubleshoot OData services for SAP Fiori and external platforms.
• Ensure secure and scalable data exchange mechanisms.

SAP Integration and Technical Support

• Support integration between SAP modules and external applications.
• Develop and maintain interfaces using REST, SOAP, RFC, IDoc, and Web Services.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Support deployment, transport management, and production releases.

Testing and Quality Assurance

• Perform unit testing and support SIT, UAT, and production validation activities.
• Ensure code quality through peer reviews and development standards.
• Maintain technical documentation and version control.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with SAP Functional Consultants, business users, project teams, and infrastructure teams.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in solution design workshops and effort estimations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• SAP technical certifications in ABAP Development are preferred.
• SAP certifications related to SAP Gateway / OData / SAP Fiori are an advantage.

Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in SAP technical development.
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in ABAP and OData development.
• Experience working with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Experience in enterprise or government environments is preferred.
