Position Objectives:
Project manager is responsible to manage, follow up and coordinate all transmission and Legacy Technology migration and dismantling activities (DWDM, OTN and SDH) related to the Optical Transport program across all stakeholders and departments (Planning, Design, Transmission, Data Transport (MPLS), and Business Units).
Adept at managing complex transmission projects, network migrations, and legacy system decommissioning.
Skilled in coordinating across planning, design, integration, and operations teams to ensure seamless end-to-end implementation.
Proficient in site integration, IP configuration, NMS setup, and resolving technical dependencies.
Strong track record in risk analysis, stakeholder communication, and maintaining project timelines.
Experienced in handling vendor coordination and ensuring ISP/OSP readiness.
Driving operational excellence in optical transport projects.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
Coordinate DWDM/OTN new platforms and expansion activities across business units
Support the team in DWDM troubleshooting and find solutions for blocking issues
Liaise with Core department on DWDM Rings, Ethernet switches, and New PE AGGs
Ensure DWDM readiness is communicated to the Vendors
Perform analysis of the complete ISOW (ISP/OSP)
Ensure proper IP MPLS configuration with the integration team and verify all related IP assignments are issued by Design
Oversee site integration activities (Configure IP requirements in MPLS network, verify and prepare site parameters in NMS, integrate new elements in the current network, Perform CWO cross-connections across network for any SDH Site)
Ensure End-to-End ISP/OSP readiness and handover
Coordinate ISP implementation with all related parties (Core Network Implementation, Fixed Access, Operations, Budget control and Hand Over Control domains)
Monitor temporary (workaround in case of urgency) and final solutions and implementation progress and migration
Ensure migration activities are performed according to plan
Report transmission and backhauling activities progress regularly to program management
Provide risk analysis, mitigation plans, and recommendations
Resolve DWDM network Implementation dependencies
Handle delivery-related issues across departments
Ensure fiber implementation and Space/DC power readiness with Fixed Network and Buildings department
Coordinate with Network Design Directorate for preparation and issuance of Scope of Work and Work Orders to Vendors
Keep Network Databases and tracking systems regularly updated
Track MDT requests and approvals
Communicate priorities to all involved departments based on project needs
Ensure all work is captured in the Project schedule
Achieve 90% work completion as per approved Project schedule
Deliver scheduled progress and quality reports on time with complete details; ensure timely updates to Project Tracking System Databases
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or a related field
15+ years of experience in Optical Transport Transmission, with a strong focus on DWDM, OTN, and MPLS delivery coordination and project management
Proven experience in drafting technical reports and preparing executive-level presentations
Strong technical knowledge of Transmission networks, IP/MPLS, DWDM, and GPON technologies
Solid understanding of legacy DWDM and SDH systems
Advanced skills in management reporting and presentation to senior stakeholders
Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken); proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable
PMP certification is a plus and will be considered an added advantage
