The Mission of SAU+AmeriCorps VISTA is to meet poverty-related needs and create pathways out of poverty as we increase the rate of college degree completion among low-income students and increase civic engagement throughout the Magnolia community. Our project supports anti-poverty efforts in the community and on campus with various partner organizations, providing meaningful civic engagement opportunities to VISTA members, students, and community members. Campus and Community Fellows will build their program’s services by developing university and community engagement, secure volunteer systems, funding research options, and improving the program’s effectiveness in fulfilling the SAU+VISTA mission.
