The Kentucky Supreme Court has an immediate opening for a Supreme Court Staff Attorney. The workstation for this position is in Franklin County.
Characteristics of the Job:
Responsible for supporting a Supreme Court justice by performing legal tasks. A SC staff attorney is responsible for reviewing legal briefs and appellate and high court records, conducting thorough legal research, preparing legal memoranda, analyzing cases, proofreading legal documents, and taking notes.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review legal briefs and appellate records, ensuring thorough understanding and organized documentation
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis of case materials for court cases
- Prepare and edit drafts of opinions, orders, and judgments under guidance
- Proofread legal documents
- Communicate with attorneys upon the direction of the judge
- Monitor for and provide summaries of recent legal developments and decisions
- Perform other duties as required
