AC Transit is actively recruiting for the position of Schedule Analyst. Under general supervision, this position, prepares the operating schedules of the District's public transportation vehicles and operator assignments.This is an excellent opportunity to work for the largest bus agency in California. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Prepares operating schedules for the District's public transportation vehicles using the District's current scheduling software.Defines trips made, connection or transfer points, departure, intermediate points, and arrival times. Analyzes and evaluates data illustrating passenger riding habits, traffic conditions, vehicle running time, union contract provisions, and other circumstances affecting the operation of transit vehicles. Prepares preliminary runs from the basic schedule consistent with contractual run-cutting requirements, utilizing each Operator to the maximum, while minimizing overtime. Prepares schedule changes to meet changing traffic conditions. Determines running time and proper headway. Performs ride checks on board transit revenue vehicles using a Personal Data Assistant (PDA); tabulates the number of passengers boarding and alighting, records estimated times of arrival and departure at scheduled stops, and bus stop pass-bys. Evaluates passenger complaints, and proposes solutions. Provides assistance to senior Schedules personnel with other scheduling functions when necessary. Prepares statistical reports, and other documentation. Performs related duties as required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge Of: Personal computers; the principals of service and scheduling changes; operational checks and computerized scheduling systems; bus scheduling and run-cutting processes; procedures for the development and coordination of complex public transit schedules. Ability To: Quickly learn the principles of service and schedule changes and run-cutting procedures; quickly learn and proficiently operate the District's computerized scheduling system; evaluate and review present service; exercise initiative and independent judgment within standardized procedures; work effectively in a team setting; speak and write in English clearly and effectively; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.Physical Requirements: Must maintain the physical condition necessary to: (1) perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment; and (2) possess physical mobility in order to conduct on-board checks and field studies in outdoor settings under all seasonal weather conditions.THIS POSITION IS A UNION POSITION, REPRESENTED BY ATU The Selection Process: The Human Resources department must receive a completed online application by the filling date.
