Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain the Schedule:

    • Create a detailed, integrated project schedule using specialized software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project). This includes all phases: design, procurement, excavation, tunneling (TBM operations), station construction, trackwork, systems installation (signaling, power), testing, and commissioning.

    • Incorporate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements and define activities, durations, and dependencies based on scope and site-specific conditions (e.g., ground conditions, utility relocations).

    • Apply critical path method (CPM) analysis to identify and monitor critical and near-critical paths.

  • Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Gather progress updates from site teams, contractors, and subcontractors, and update the schedule with actual start/finish dates and remaining durations.

    • Perform variance analysis (planned vs. actual) and identify potential schedule slippages or opportunities for acceleration.

    • Prepare and distribute regular schedule reports (daily, weekly, monthly) and executive summaries for project management and stakeholders, highlighting key milestones and potential risks.

  • Analysis and Optimization:

    • Conduct 'what-if' scenario analysis to assess the impact of changes, delays, or mitigation strategies on the overall project timeline.

    • Support the change management process by analyzing and documenting the schedule impact of change orders.

    • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to optimize resource allocation (equipment like Tunnel Boring Machines - TBMs, labor, and materials) and improve construction sequencing.

  • Risk Management:

    • Work with the risk management team to incorporate schedule risk assessment results and contingency buffers into the baseline schedule.

    • Specifically track high-risk underground activities such as ground stabilization, tunneling through challenging geology, and interface management with existing infrastructure.
