School Based Social Worker

North Shore Child & Family Guidance is seeking a social worker or mental health counselor to join our team.

Social Workers and Mental Health Counselors supply necessary clinical interventions as well as exercise the roles of mediator, broker, educator, advocate, outreach worker and counselor on behalf of Guidance Center clients and families.

Responsibilities:

• Provides evaluation and treatment services within a school-based, mental health collaborative for elementary school aged children in Nassau BOCES school, including individual, group and family therapy. All individual and group sessions are provided as part of the clients IEP.
• Conducts initial screenings, provides crisis intervention as needed, and maintains all relevant forms, reports and documentation.
• Works closely with ISP team members, including staff psychiatrists and therapists, BOCES administration and school staff in team meetings and planned interventions.
• Maintains contact with referring and other involved professionals as needed.
• Provides case management as needed including information and referral services to clients and collaterals.
• Attends weekly team meetings and supervision for support.

Qualifications:

• LMSW or LMHC preferred.
• One (1) year of full-time paid experience as a social worker or mental health counselor
• Ability to work up to two evenings per week to conduct family therapy should the families not be able to come in during the 8-4 time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,600.00 - $65,000.00 per year
