Key Responsibilities
  • Assess all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all health-related matters.
  • Treat illnesses and injuries that occur at school.
  • Administer required medications daily and in emergencies.
  • Document care provided according to school policy, procedures, and protocol.
  • Supervise and train the clinic team.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR/AED, vision/hearing screening, spinal screening, and acanthosis nigricans (AN) screening.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and make appropriate referrals.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Provide emergency first-aid as needed.
  • Organize and prioritize work responsibilities and make independent decisions based on complex information.
  • Collaborate with 504 & Special Education teams to support medically fragile students; develop and implement individualized health care plans as needed.
  • Provide individual health counseling, teaching, and treatment to students, families, and staff.
  • Perform screening procedures required by state and local mandates; make referrals and follow-up as necessary.
  • Maintain complete and accurate immunization records to comply with state mandates.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and health documentation of services rendered.
Work Environment

This position operates in a professional, non-smoking office environment. The role can be busy and include moderate noise and unscheduled interruptions. Routine use of standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, filing cabinets) is expected.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Qualifications: Registered Professional Nurse license in the State of Texas preferred (LVN considered).
  • Certifications: Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Experience: School nursing 1 year preferred.
