Job Purpose:
The Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective science instruction, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. The role involves preparing lesson plans, conducting practical experiments, assessing student performance, and supporting overall academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver science lessons in accordance with the curriculum (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or General Science depending on grade level).
- Introduce students to scientific concepts through experiments, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
- Develop lesson plans, worksheets, and teaching materials tailored to varying learning abilities.
- Assess, evaluate, and record student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, and classroom participation.
- Encourage curiosity, inquiry-based learning, and application of scientific principles in daily life.
- Manage and maintain science laboratory equipment and ensure safety during experiments.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Use modern teaching aids, digital tools, and interactive methods to enhance learning.
- Support students in preparing for science exhibitions, competitions, and projects.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to improve academic performance.
- Maintain classroom discipline and ensure compliance with school policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration on curriculum development and academic planning.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress and areas for improvement.
- Stay updated with new teaching strategies, scientific advancements, and educational practices.
- Participate in professional development programs, workshops, and school activities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Science or Education (B.Sc./M.Sc. with B.Ed./M.Ed. preferred).
- Strong subject knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or General Science (depending on level taught).
- Prior teaching experience at school/college level is desirable.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to conduct safe and engaging lab experiments.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources.
