Roles and Responsibilities of a Science Teacher1. Academic Responsibilities
- Teach science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Science) as per the prescribed syllabus.
- Prepare detailed lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives.
- Explain scientific concepts clearly using examples, experiments, and demonstrations.
- Encourage inquiry-based and experiential learning.
- Integrate real-life applications to make concepts understandable.
2. Practical & Laboratory Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments and practical sessions safely.
- Demonstrate proper handling of laboratory equipment and chemicals.
- Ensure students follow lab safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain laboratory records, stock registers, and equipment.
- Coordinate with lab assistants for smooth functioning.
3. Assessment & Evaluation
- Prepare question papers, worksheets, assignments, and projects.
- Conduct unit tests, practical exams, and internal assessments.
- Evaluate answer scripts and lab records objectively.
- Maintain accurate academic records of students.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve performance.
4. Classroom Management
- Maintain discipline and a positive learning environment.
- Encourage participation through discussions, group activities, and experiments.
- Use teaching aids such as charts, models, smart boards, and digital tools.
5. Co-curricular Activities
- Organise science exhibitions, fairs, and model-making competitions.
- Encourage participation in Olympiads and science quizzes.
- Guide students in science-related projects and research activities.
6. Professional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training programs.
- Stay updated with new scientific developments and teaching methods.
- Collaborate with other subject teachers for interdisciplinary learning.
- Follow school policies and academic guidelines.
7. Student Support & Guidance
- Identify slow learners and provide remedial support.
- Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific attitude.
- Communicate student progress to parents during PTMs.
- Support overall personality and skill development.
