Scrum Master

Job Summary

FEI Systems is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Agile Scrum Master who will support their teams by shepherding them to success in meeting their delivery goals. The Scrum Master’s focus is to facilitate the team events and processes as well as supporting the appropriate program events.


This position is specifically for the system teams, which is a support team for delivery projects. The system teams provide the tooling and infrastructure to support a DevSecOps framework and best practices.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coaches the team to create better solutions, improve business results, and better their processes
  • Facilitates team meetings, this includes conducting Scrum ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-up, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
  • Identifies and removes any impediments that may be preventing the team from delivering value.
  • Protects the team from outside distractions and interruptions
  • Tracks and communicates agreed-upon team metrics by ensuringthat the team's progress is transparent to all stakeholders
  • Coaches the team on Scrum principles and practices. This includes helping the team to self-organize, and to continuously improve their processes.
  • Ensures clear communication between the team, the Product Owner, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitates program events.
  • Ensures the Development Team understands and maintains commitment to the Definition of Done (DoD)
  • Provides oversight for compliance to organizational standards (Security, CMMI, etc.) and best practices within the team
  • Assists in coordinating remediation to gaps in compliance with organizational standards
  • Assists the PO in preparing and refining the backlog for PI and Iteration Planning
  • Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items
  • Understanding product planning in an empirical environment
  • Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
  • Coach the Product Owner to ensure the volume and flow of Product Backlog Items (user stories) towards the top of the Product Backlog are Ready for the Sprint Backlog

Release Train Transparency


  • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters, the System Team, and shared resources in ART PI Planning meetings
  • Works with the above teams throughout each Iteration and PI
  • Coordinates with other Scrum Masters in Scrum of Scrums and/or ART Sync with the Product Managers/Product Owners
  • Fosters normalized estimating within the team
  • Helps teams operate under architectural and portfolio governance, System-l Level integration, and System Demos
  • Fosters adoption of Agile technical practices
  • Escalates team impediments to Leadership

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Scrum Master
  • Scrum Master Certified (SSM, CSM, PSM) or similar
  • At least one SAFe certification preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps preferred
  • Certification in another agile competency, such as product owner, developer, etc. preferred
  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or other scaling model is highly preferred
  • Servant leader and strong communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • 2+ years of experience engaging stakeholders, contributors and technical resources to analyze user needs and resource limitation
  • 2+ years of experience with facilitating discussions of complex, high value IT delivery projects that require the coordination of development work or technology work on multiple platforms to achieve desired functionality
  • Experience with working within an IT and/or infrastructure environment preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software
  • Experience applying Lean Thinking in large organizations
