AI-Driven Scrum Master / Intelligent Delivery Orchestrator

About the Role

We are modernizing the Scrum Master role for an AI-enabled delivery organization.

This position is an AI-Driven Scrum Master / Intelligent Delivery Orchestrator who enhances team operations by using AI tools, building lightweight workflow aids, and improving delivery flow across engineering and product teams.

You will work directly inside Azure DevOps for delivery flow and work tracking, while using M365, Copilot Studio, and other approved AI tools to reduce manual work, surface insights, and support predictable delivery.

This is a hands-on, insight-driven role focused on productivity, predictability, and smart risk management.

Key Responsibilities

AI-Enabled Workflow Support

• Use enterprise-approved AI tools (M365, Copilot Studio, automation platforms) to streamline delivery activities.

• Create simple, low-effort AI helpers that automate repetitive preparation tasks such as standup summaries, backlog clarity checks, refinement preparation, risk surfacing, and dependency signals.

• Apply AI to improve meeting readiness, reduce manual coordination effort, and help the team stay aligned.

• Continuously identify opportunities where lightweight automation can remove friction and strengthen delivery flow.

AI-Augmented Delivery Operations

• Use AI insights to analyze sprint flow (cycle time, throughput, aging WIP, bottlenecks) from Azure DevOps.

• Use AI summarization to reduce prep time for standups, planning, and retros.

• Present AI-generated insights that help teams see risks and patterns clearly.

Backlog Refinement Support (CDF-Aligned)

• Use AI tools and the Community Development Framework (CDF) to improve story clarity, acceptance criteria, decomposition, and dependency visibility.

• Ensure work is refined and ready before entering sprints (without replacing PO accountability).

AI-Driven Risk Management

• Continuously surface risks using AI, including dependency collisions, delivery drift, aging or stalled work, overload indicators, scope or clarity risks, and cross-team impacts.

• Use AI to detect emerging risks early and ensure they are visible and escalated appropriately.

(You identify and surface risks — you do not solve engineering risks yourself.)

Flow Optimization and Predictability

• Use AI patterns and ADO signals to improve sprint predictability.

• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies with AI support.

• Reduce manual overhead by applying automation to planning, reporting, and day-to-day operations.

Cross-Team Coordination

• Use AI insights to uncover cross-team dependencies and delivery impacts.

• Facilitate alignment with Product, Engineering, and peer Scrum Masters based on predictive indicators.

• Help modernize delivery practices with smarter workflows and automation.

Security and Delivery Risk Awareness

• Recognize when work involves sensitive data, key integrations, or elevated delivery risk.

• Ensure relevant security acceptance criteria are included when appropriate (not authored by this role).

• Use AI responsibly following approved prompt, privacy, and data-handling guidelines.

• Surface potential security concerns early and route to Security or Architecture.

AI-Assisted Governance and Reporting

• Use M365 and Copilot Studio to generate automated sprint summaries, retro insights, delivery dashboards, risk logs, and leadership updates.

• Reduce manual reporting by automating repeatable workflows.

Quarterly Planning and Roadmap Support

• Participate in quarterly planning sessions to align teams on long-standing initiatives and organizational priorities.

• Support the translation of quarterly objectives into sprint-level plans, collaborating with Product Owners and engineering leads.

• Use AI tools and insights to help validate sequencing, surface risks, and highlight cross-team dependencies ahead of each quarter.

• Maintain visibility into roadmap commitments and ensure sprint-level delivery aligns with quarterly goals.

• Provide automated summaries and alignment signals using M365 and AI workflows to support quarterly reviews.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years as a Scrum Master or Delivery Lead.

• Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps for boards, sprints, and delivery flow.

• Experience using AI tools (Copilot, M365-based AI, workflows, or automation platforms).

• Ability to interpret data and AI insights to support better team decision-making.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

• Experience building simple workflows in Copilot Studio, M365, or Power Automate.

• Exposure to software delivery environments (product, engineering, QA).

• Awareness of secure development and data-handling expectations.

• Experience driving modernization or AI adoption within delivery teams.
