The Academic Advisor is responsible for assisting in advising our students in our College of Nursing and Health Sciences, MSN and ABSN Nursing programs. Advising is a professional relationship marked by a series of purposeful interactions guided by theory and pedagogy, rooted in student learning outcomes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Meet with students who are admitted to the MSN &amp; ABSN programs in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to provide information and guidance on academic-related issues, such as graduation requirements and exceptions, major requirements, course planning and registration, transfer credit evaluation/substitution, and program preparation.</li><li>
Maintain students&rsquo; academic files, including a record of the advising activity that takes place each visit.
</li><li>Facilitate students&rsquo; academic progress by evaluating their needs and developing appropriate educational plans. Makes referrals for students who need assistance with overcoming learning obstacles, specialized tutoring, extended or intensive assistance with career decisions, or similar needs.</li><li>
Coordinates and leads new student orientation sessions.</li><li>
Identify and collaborate with external entities for services, assistance, or information helpful to students including healthcare providers, social services agencies, grant institutions, etc.</li><li>
Serve as a member of the Student Success Network, providing outreach and support to designated students.</li><li>
Assist faculty with students of concern.</li><li>
Some travel, evenings, and weekends may be required.</li></ul>
Position Requirements:<ul><li>
1+ years of experience in higher education. Demonstrated experience in case managing, advising, or student success efforts.
</li><li>A bachelor&rsquo;s degree in education, social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field is preferred.
</li><li>Knowledge of technology, especially accessibility tools and online student success software.</li><li>
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>
Able to establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff, to work as a valuable team player, and to function independently while managing and prioritizing multiple job assignments.</li></ul>

What You'll Do:

 You will serve as a concierge for university resources, connecting students to academic, financial, and personal support services, and participate in orientations, webinars, recruitment events, and engagement initiatives.

 What do we require from you?
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited institution. Preference: Master&rsquo;s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field.
 </li>
 <li>
 At least two years of experience in academic advising, counseling, student success, or student affairs, preferably in higher education (additional relevant education may substitute for experience).
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience working with online, adult, transfer, or non-traditional students is strongly preferred.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to work effectively in a technology-driven environment with frequent data use and high student interaction.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficiency with student information systems, CRM platforms, and advising tools (e.g., Banner, Starfish).
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrated customer service orientation and ability to build trust with diverse student populations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to use data and dashboards to guide outreach and intervention strategies.
 </li>
 <li>
 Must have a track record of measurable success and achievement.

 Salary &amp; Benefits
 
 
 
 In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 21 ($63,833 - $73,416), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
 
 
 For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 &amp; 4.10)
 
 
 For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).
