 The anesthesia technician provides technical and clinical support to the anesthesia care team pre-intra and post-procedure. The role supports safe, efficient anesthesia delivery by anticipating clinician needs, responding in emergencies. They prepare, inspect, troubleshoot and maintain anesthesia machines, monitors, airway devices and related equipment; assemble and restock supplies, emergency carts and assists with room setup, patient positioning/transfer, and equipment changes during cases. Ensure that all equipment and supplies follow Infection Control and manufacturer safety standards.
 
 
 
 Additional Job Duties
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Provides supplies and equipment to each anesthetizing location in proper working order.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot all types of anesthesia equipment (alarm systems, calibration and leak checking, medical gas cylinders, vaporizers, and ventilators).
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist anesthesia providers with equipment and supplies needed for patient care (general anesthesia, epidurals, blocks, hemodynamic monitoring, IV pumps) and emergency care (code blue, difficult airway, bronchospasm, malignant hyperthermia crisis, local anesthetic systemic toxicity), Sterile set-ups (arterial lines, central lines, adult/pediatric cardiovascular).
 </li>
 <li>
 Manage anesthesia carts medication inventory and restock anesthesia supplies.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform point of use cleaning and handling of contaminated instruments (laryngoscope blades, intubation scopes, TEE probes. LMA's).
 </li>

 Support the surgical team before, during, and after procedures, ensuring anesthesia equipment is clean, stocked and ready for next procedure.
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for training new staff and conducting in-service training with existing staff, physicians, and CRNAs to keep them abreast of new procedures, protocols or the use of new equipment.
 </li>

 Maintain detailed records to ensure that all equipment and supplies are in compliance with Infection Control and manufacturer safety standards.

 At Houston Methodist, the Anesthesia Technician (AT) position provides support to the anesthesia providers and other members of the interprofessional health care team and is directly involved in patient care before, during and after procedures.  How you&rsquo;ll make an impact in this role

 Clean, sterilize and set up all anesthesia equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist anesthesia provider with patient assessment, monitoring, transport, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide daily maintenance of equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain an adequate inventory of necessary equipment and supplies.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in the preparation of scheduled, emergent and urgent surgical procedures involving anesthesia care providers by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available, in working order &amp; in proper location.

 Licensure / Certification / Registration:

 BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

 High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
