Job Description
 
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently seeking to fill Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) positions in the Civil Division. It is an opportunity to litigate a broad range of cases involving significant, complex issues on behalf of the United States in federal court. Working in the Civil Division, you will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce federal civil laws that protect life, liberty, and property.
 
If selected, the individual will be working on immigration enforcement matters, issuing warrants, defending habeas corpus cases, seeking injunctions, defending asylum and passport cases and well as general civil litigation.
 
Responsibilities will increase and civil assignments may become more complex as your training and experience progress.

The Assistant General Counsel (AGC) will be a key member of the legal department, supporting the General Counsel and business leadership in structuring, negotiating, documenting, and managing complex energy-sector transactions, including involving utilities, datacenters, power projects, EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts and O&amp;M (operations &amp; maintenance) agreements. The role will also be responsible for providing general corporate legal support (corporate governance, commercial contracts, compliance, risk mitigation) as needed. Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Supporting and leading the negotiation, drafting, review and management of a wide variety of transaction documents including:</li><li>
Equipment sales, EPC, O&amp;M contracts and related long term service contracts</li><li>
Power purchase agreements (PPAs), capacity agreements and grid services agreements</li><li>
Datacenter, commercial and industrial resiliency agreements</li><li>
Advising business teams (sales and marketing, structuring, operations, business development, commercial, engineering) on legal, regulatory and compliance risks associated with energy projects and transactions.</li><li>

The Harris County District Attorney&rsquo;s Office (HCDAO) located in Houston, Texas, is the fourth largest prosecutor&rsquo;s office in the country serving more than 4.7 million people. We are excited to hire an attorney to join the General Litigation Division, the DA&rsquo;s legal team. General Litigation is a unique blend of criminal and civil practice that gives its attorneys the opportunity to enhance their legal skillset beyond that of a regular prosecutor or civil litigator in a rewarding and collaborative environment not found elsewhere in public or private legal employment. Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) in the division advise the elected District Attorney, the Office, and its employees on various legal and policy issues and provide representation to the Office and its employees in administrative, state, and federal civil litigation. The Division attorneys also review and litigate requests for expunctions, represent the State in contempt proceedings, respond to record requests, facilitate out of state witness coordination and all aspects of fugitive matters.
Duties:
<ul><li>Representation of the District Attorney, the Office, and staff in state and federal state civil litigation;</li>
<li>Representation of the Office in expunction proceedings, including screening and guidance defense attorneys and pro se petitioners and litigation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Representation of the State in criminal contempt prosecutions - both as prosecutors and defense of staff members.</li>
<li>Representation of the State in judicial recusal hearings.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Representation of the State in fugitive extradition proceedings and assistance with out of state witness appearances.</li>
<li>Gatekeeping of District Attorney&rsquo;s records; respond to Public Information Act requests and subpoenas for all levels of prosecution files and related records; produce and litigate as appropriate.</li></ul>

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
<ul><li>Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.</li>
<li>Three (3) years of experience practicing civil and/or criminal law</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
<ul><li>Working knowledge of the Texas court systems</li>
<li>Courtroom litigation experience</li>
<li>Possess strong written and verbal communication skills</li>
</ul>

Compensation and Benefits:
<ul><li>This is a Felony 2 position with a salary of $117,644.80.</li>
