Job Description
 
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently seeking to fill Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) positions in the Criminal Division in our Houston, Texas office. Our Criminal Division AUSAs are responsible for prosecuting a variety of violations and enforcing federal laws related to organized crime, financial litigation, immigration, drugs, firearms, public corruption, asset forfeiture, and white-collar crime.
 Please note that we are hiring for this position in all grades from AD 21 to AD 29, which are generally calculated based on the number of years of professional work experience as an attorney a candidate has. The advertised salary range corresponds to these grades.
 
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
 
Qualifications
 
Required Qualifications: 
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1* year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.

Strong academic credentials, superior legal research and writing skills, quick analytical ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical case-related issues, high-volume courtroom experience, outstanding organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a supportive and professional team environment with other AUSAs, support staff, and investigative agencies, and a demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethics, civility, and public service. Courtroom experience, including first-chair jury trials, is preferred. Successful candidates will be computer proficient, capable of doing their own legal research and writing, and self-sufficient in preparing day-to-day correspondence and pleadings. Relevant favorable experience includes investigating and prosecuting or defending criminal offenses. Expertise in grand jury practice is also desirable, as is experience with investigative and prosecution techniques.

As the EOIR Attorney, you will report to the Managing Attorney, you will also manage your caseload, as well as client interaction, and can collaborate with our wonderful Immigration team of attorneys and legal assistants.

This is a Hybrid position requiring in-person court appearances

Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings the Immigration Court, USCIS, and Board of Immigration Appeals</li>
<li>Prepare defensive immigration applications, including I-589, 42A, 42B, I-485, SIJS, and PD requests</li>
<li>Review immigration applications USCIS filings, such as I-130, I-601A, and U-Visa</li>
<li>Meet with clients to determine necessary strategy and provide analysis</li>
<li>Manage team of paralegals to meet customer service expectations</li>
<li>Prepare and submitting legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>No experience necessary; comprehensive training provided.</li>
<li>A team player who is open to helping, strategizing, and working with your fellow associates</li>
<li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required</li>
<li>Interpersonal skills of the highest caliber</li>
<li>Record of moving legal cases forward and an ability to manage a caseload</li>
<li>Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications</li>
<li>Experience with Case Management Software is preferred</li>
</ul>
Pay Range:$80k-120k USD DOE
