NYPL is seeking an Associate Director of Security to maintain an environment that is safe and comfortable for our Library users and employees. The Associate Director is responsible for the supervision of multiple security personnel and the overall security at NYPL buildings across Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. They will respond to emergencies, perform general security duties, document unusual incidents, and serve in relief of the Senior Director of Security. </div><ul><li>Conduct surveys to determine the types of security related needs that will need to be addressed in security planning</li>
<li>Consult with officials of area government and other institutions in order to determine and mitigate NYPL needs in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency. Partners with the NYPD, FDNY, OEM and other entities to facilitate response effort coordination</li>
<li>Develop and administer emergency/security preparedness training courses that teach staff how to effectively respond to major emergencies and disasters</li>
<li>Coordinate security response or crisis management activities such as ordering evacuations, opening public shelters, and implements special needs plans and programs for NYPL</li>
<li>Assist the Senior Director of Security by partnering with internal and external officials to prepare and analyze damage assessments following disasters or emergencies</li>
<li>Inspect all NYPL facilities and emergency management equipment such as mass communications equipment in order to determine their operational and functional capabilities in emergency situations</li>
<li>Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations affecting emergency plans, and ensures that plans adhere to these regulations</li>
<li>Manage and evaluate the performance of security staff</li>
<li>Conduct thorough investigations related to library policy violations, patron safety incidents, and staff misconduct to ensure compliance and a safe community environment.</li>
