POSITION SUMMARY:</b></div><div>
This position will be responsible for joining numerous types and configurations of metal components using one or multiple welding processes, as required by site specifications and national code requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency are paramount.</p><p><b>Duties</b></p><ul><li>Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.</li><li>Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices to ensure precise fabrication and assembly.</li><li>Have the ability to operate a forklift to perform different types of fabrication jobs.</li><li>Conduct rigging, mechanical assembly, and fabrication tasks following ASME codes &amp; standards for safety and quality assurance.</li><li>Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to construction sites, forklift handling, and use of personal protective equipment.</li><li>Collaborate with team members on project planning, schematics interpretation, and troubleshooting fabrication issues.</li></ul><p><b>Experience</b></p><ul><li>Proven construction site experience with hands-on welding in diverse environments.</li><li>Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical documentation.</li><li>Experience operating power tools such as press brakes, plasma cutters, grinders, and hand tools for fabrication tasks.</li><li>Knowledge of mechanical systems including pipe threading, soldering, machining processes, and assembly procedures.</li><li>Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools accurately for quality control purposes.</li><li>Understanding of safety standards related to construction sites including rigging practices, forklift handling, and ASME codes &amp; standards. Capable of certifying multi-process structural steel while being proficient in general welding procedures.</p><p><b>
Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>
Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.</li><li>
Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.</li><li>
Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by Welding Engineer or Supervisor.</li><li>
Starts power supply to produce electric current.</li><li>
Strikes arc which generates heat to make and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work piece.</li><li>
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.</li><li>
May clean or degrease weld joint or work piece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.</li><li>
May repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.</li><li>
May prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.</li><li>
May chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter, using hand scraper or power chipper.</li><li>
May preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace.</li><li>
May position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.</li><li>
May tack assemblies together.</li><li>
May cut metal plates or structural shapes.</li><li>
