<p><b>Summary:</b><br/>The Claims Supervisor will effectively manage and supervise claims and provide overall direction to adjusters, defense counsel and Members to bring claims to an acceptable resolution with respect to Signal claims policy as promulgated by performing the following duties.</p><p><b>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Supervise adjusters claims handling in accordance with guidelines and criteria established.</li><li>Provide direction with respect to jurisdictional issues and provide guidance on acceptance or controversy of claims.</li><li>Able to maintain a timely diary and supervise a full caseload.</li><li>Provide effective service in a professional and courteous manner to Members in response to claims issues and information requests.</li><li>Coordinate and direct resolution of claims, including authorization of lump sum settlements, acceptance of stipulations, waiver of liens, pursuit or waiver of Second Injury</li><li>Fund relief and resolution of all issues in global settlements, as outlined in the supervisory guidelines and reserve/settlement authority granted.</li><li>Approve recommended reserves and guide adjusters for setting reserves in accordance with Signal reserving guidelines.</li><li>Provide assessment and recommendation for potential LTC candidates for consideration of transfer to LTA accounts, review of policy year closures and prior to renewal.</li><li>Approve assignment of defense counsel as required after consideration of adjuster and/or Member and legal coordinator.</li><li>Assist with training and mentorship of adjusters.</li><li>Coordinate and attend Claim Reviews, Member meetings and on-site visits.</li><li>Prepare, organize, and deliver training and presentations as needed.</li><li>Serve as contact for emergencies and/or after hours claims as needed.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><b>Core Competencies </b></p><ul><li>Employee should demonstrate proficiency in a variety of claims management concepts and practices and have knowledge of general insurance procedures and workers&rsquo; compensation benefits.</li><li>Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within claims management field. <p><b>PURPOSE OF THE POSITION</b></p><p>The Bodily Injury Claims Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day leadership of an assigned team comprised of 6-8 Bodily Injury claims adjusters. They exercise strong critical thinking skills, judgement, and initiative in the proper resolution of claims. They are responsible for the consistent delivery of high-quality claim handling and customer service from their team/unit. The Bodily Injury Claims Supervisor ensures their team follows regulations, Company policy, and all applicable licenses required for adjusters. They are leaders who positively influence their team, coaching and guiding staff through changes in the organization and industry. Supervise, mentor, and support Claims Examiners, Claims Assistants, and administrative staff</p></li><li><p>
Monitor attendance, performance, evaluations, and address disciplinary matters as needed</p></li><li><p>
Review claims activity, including initial reviews, ongoing case management, delays, and denials</p></li><li><p>
Approve reserve changes up to $250,000 and payments up to $10,000 in accordance with internal guidelines</p></li><li><p>
Conduct comprehensive file reviews to ensure compliance with Texas workers&rsquo; compensation laws, client requirements, and internal procedures</p></li><li><p>
Coordinate and lead training sessions related to regulatory updates, internal policies, and best practices</p></li><li><p>
Ensure caseloads are appropriately staffed, balanced, and managed efficiently</p></li><li><p>
Approve priority payments and sign checks as required</p></li><li><p>
Respond professionally and promptly to claimant, vendor, and client inquiries or concerns</p></li><li><p>
Monitor vendor performance and recommend or implement panel adjustments as necessary</p></li><li><p>
Ensure all client servicing instructions are consistently followed</p></li><li><p>
Provide coverage for claims examiners during absences or vacancies</p></li><li><p>
Prepare, review, and evaluate monthly client reports</p></li><li><p>
Facilitate and participate in internal and external audits</p></li><li><p>

Required Qualifications</b></h3><ul><li><p>
High School Diploma or GED</p></li><li><p>
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience within workers&rsquo; compensation claims</p></li><li><p>

Strong working knowledge of Texas workers&rsquo; compensation statutes and regulations</p></li><li><p>

The Auto Casualty Claims Management Team will be responsible for the direct supervision of the Auto Casualty Claims unit. Scope of the position includes ensuring compliance with State mandated claims handling guidelines and assuring proper investigation and conclusion of claims. Monitor production, staff development and the quality of files assigned to the Unit.</p><p><b>
**This is a hybrid position (after training). Seeking local candidates to work in either our Bedford Park location, approximately one mile south of Chicago Midway Airport, or our Oak Brook location.**</b></p><p><b>
DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
</b></p><ul><li>Lead, motivate, and provide direction to the Auto Casualty Unit staff members</li><li>
Conduct file and diary reviews for the purpose of monitoring adjuster's work and to ensure appropriate investigation, documentation and fair claim settlement practices are followed, and company quality standards are maintained.</li><li>
Place appropriate authority level on claim files based upon investigation of facts and approve settlement checks within authority.</li><li>
Review reports, design and support the implementation of procedures which improve claim settlement and customer service levels, and ensure that desired quality and quantity levels are maintained.</li><li>
Oversee the implementation and monitoring of procedures to assure effectiveness and compliance.</li><li>
Determine training needs of the department and establish and participate in programs to ensure training needs of personnel and processes.</li><li>
Work with staff relative to any suits drawn on cases with respect to litigation handling.</li><li>
Develop and manage a cost effective defense strategy.</li><li>
Identify Systems issues/problems/suggestions for enhancements.</li><li>
Manage the administrative functions of the unit which include:<ul><li>
Review, provide direction and assign new losses</li><li>
Screening and selecting candidates</li><li>
Setting performance objectives and monitoring performance results</li><li>
Conduct performance appraisals</li><li>
Complete reports as necessary</li><li>
Daily review of files for payment approvals over adjuster authority and the transfer of files to appropriate areas (SIU, Litigation, Total Loss, Subrogation, etc.)</li><li>
Conduct unit meetings</li><li>
Review and respond to Department of Insurance complaints</li><li>
Review and direct claim activity on customer inquiries</li><li>

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:</b></p><ul><li>
5+ years auto liability claims, PD, Casualty Claims and/or supervisory experience</li><li>
5+ years managing litigated personal auto files a plus</li><li>
Non-Standard auto claims handling experience a plus, not required</li><li>
Strong technical and administrative background in auto claims handling</li><li>
Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures</li><li>
Good leadership, training and development skills</li><li>
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills</li><li>
Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claim</li><li>
