POSITION SUMMARY 
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will independently perform high-complexity clinical testing, support assay quality and instrument performance, and contribute to workflow optimization. This role also supports training, SOP development, assay validation, and cross-functional collaboration across QA, Data Management, Client Services, and Clinical Research. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
These may include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Perform hematology and clinical chemistry diagnostic testing in accordance with CLIA, SOPs, and quality management systems</li><li>
Perform phlebotomy, collection and processing of patient samples by obtaining blood specimens through venipuncture and fingerstick</li><li>
Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures</li><li>
Document all QC activities, maintenance, calibrations, and corrective actions.</li><li>
Troubleshoot routine and complex assay/instrument issues and serve as a subject matter expert</li><li>
Lead process improvement initiatives, including workflow efficiency, TAT improvements, and cost-saving efforts</li><li>
Participate in proficiency testing, regulatory inspection readiness, and quality committee initiatives</li><li>
Support assay validation projects and contribute to development and revision of SOPs</li><li>
Train and assess competencies of testing personnel and support expansion of laboratory capabilities</li><li>
Meet milestones for product development timelines</li><li>
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with other chemists, data scientists, engineers and manufacturing personnel</li><li>
Maintain compliance with all company policies, quality systems, design control and procedures</li><li>
Document results, protocols, SOPs, etc</li><li>
Supports product improvement and manufacturing optimization</li><li>
Perform review of clinical data listings for completeness and accuracy; and escalate issues to the Clinical Operations Manager/Study Lead as needed.</li><li>
Proactively and effectively communicate the status of clinical studies to management.</li><li>
Participate in the interim and final reviews of study data in preparation of regulatory submissions</li><li>
May interact with RA/QA in responding to audits and FDA inquiries</li><li>
Assist senior staff in development of study-specific forms and trial-specific monitoring plans</li></ul> 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES<ul><li>
Active California CLS or CGMBS license (required)</li><li>
Must possess a valid CA phlebotomy certification</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a chemical, biological, physical, or clinical lab science (or qualifying equivalent).</li><li>
Experience with high-complexity testing; molecular methods (PCR, microarray, Sanger/NGS) highly preferred.</li><li>
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technological skills.</li><li>
Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced lab environment.</li><li>
Ability to maintain required CE units for state licensure.</li><li>
Experience working on medical device studies and/or in-vitro diagnostics studies preferred</li><li>

The base range for this role is $38.00 - $54.00 per hour.  GENERAL SUMMARY
 
 
 
 The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of standardized urinalysis tests in a toxicology laboratory for the detection of prescription and illicit drugs using advanced LC-MS-MS technology and approves reports and patient results to ordering physicians.
 
 
 
 
 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 Responsible for testing and reporting laboratory test results for all test methods approved by CAP, NY and CLIA
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures accuracy and quality of test results meeting required turnaround times
 </li>
 <li>
 Enters testing data and performs a variety of standardized tests on urine samples using advanced LC-MS-MS technology for the detection of prescription and illicit drugs
 </li>
 <li>
 Evaluate the validity of results obtained, maintain proper records of results, and create a report of results
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintains quality control and LC-MS-MS chromatographic data before release of results to physicians
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures that testing methods follow established quality control procedures; and assists with the preparation of chromatographic data reports prior to release to physicians
 </li>
 <li>
 Identifies, troubleshoots, documents, and resolves problems with test results
 </li>
 <li>
 Documents issues using the Laboratory Occurrence Management (LOM) form
 </li>
 <li>
 Acts as a resource and trainer to laboratory technicians and assistants
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepares and maintains reagents and supplies; performs maintenance on laboratory equipment and maintains a laboratory in a clean and orderly condition
 </li>

 Follows safe laboratory practices and participates in operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities

 May oversee the duties of clinical laboratory technicians and assistants who prepare specimens and perform other less complex procedures

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
General Statement of Duties:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist III is responsible for: performing complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, analyzing and assuming accountability for accurate test results, maintenance of complicated instruments, monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs, assuring compliance with regulations and standards of regulatory agencies, and managing special projects. 
Essential Job Functions:
1. Performs specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing. Analyzes test results and assumes accountability for accuracy.
2. Understands, performs, and practices preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoots and takes corrective action. Demonstrates pro-active problem solving skills to include identifying a problem and taking appropriate action; knows when to seek guidance to complete troubleshooting protocol.
3. Understands, performs, and practices quality control management to include running controls, evaluating data, documentation of data, and taking corrective action as required. Communicates any relevant QC information to Supervisor or Manager.
4. Anticipates and evaluates need for new methods, instrumentation, and technology in terms of customer need, cost benefit and revenue generation, and informs management about findings.
5. Assures compliance with accrediting agencies. Acts as a resource to customers both within the department and outside the department.
6. Manages assigned projects to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources, setting project timelines, keeping Manager informed of progress, and completing project within established time limits.

Position Summary:

<li>Demonstrating an advanced level of laboratory experience, the Clinical Lab Scientist 3 (Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist) reports to Pathology Lab Manager, Supervisor or Lead (or assigned Charge). Performs a variety of both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests and records and reports results following standard operating procedures, policies and regulatory guidelines. These require a professional level of knowledge to properly execute and analyze results, especially where results are abnormal or atypical.</li>
<li>Supports needs of the laboratory including both pre-analytical and analytical areas as assigned.</li>
<li>Provides training of both new hires, current colleagues, students, residents/fellow, and others assigned in the laboratory. Sets up and maintains equipment; monitors quality control standards.</li>
<li>Assigned tasks in bringing online new testing and programs, validation, QA, and research support.
</li><li>Responsible for resolving problems, provides expertise in operating equipment or testing protocols, as well as the workflow of specimens.
</li><li>Where assigned reviews lab requisitions and collects pertinent clinical and medical chart data.</li>
<li>May perform data entry, pre-analytical set up, routine clerical and service duties as required.</li>
