The Department of Pediatrics is recruiting for a Clinical Research Assistant 2 to support multiple research projects related to child development and pediatric rehabilitation. Duties include scheduling project activities, setting up and managing REDCap databases and ClinCard systems, equipment management, and coordinating community advisory board meetings. The CRA2 will co-moderate focus groups and consensus panels, conduct and transcribe interviews, observe intervention sessions for fidelity, manage data entry, and contribute to qualitative coding and thematic analysis, prepare manuscripts and other academic products, and supervise undergraduate trainees. The candidate will be responsible for coordination and regulatory responsibilities consistent with the CRA2 classification.</div><div><br>
</div><div>The CRA2 will exercise judgment within Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HIPAA guidelines to ensure IRB compliance, accurate documentation of protocol deviations or adverse events, and adherence to ethical research standards. The individual will also support dissemination efforts through preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and community summaries.</div>
Required Qualifications:

Led by Clinical Research Director, Pamela Weiss, MD, MSCE, the Rheumatology Research Core is seeking an entry-level Clinical Research Assistant to work alongside a team of two additional clinical research assistants and one clinical research coordinator. This position is full-time. The clinical research assistant will provide support in the day-to-day operations of recruiting and enrolling patients for active studies and clinical trials, providing regulatory support and oversight, and abstracting data into local and national databases.</p><p><b><br>

<b>Summary of Job Duties:
</b></h2>The Research Assistant I (RA) serves as a member of a close-knit research team conducting clinical trials investigating the efficacy of pharmacotherapies for the treatment of psychostimulant use disorders and/or opioid use disorder. The RA will oversee and perform research clinic activities, perform recruitment activities, including assessing subject's eligibility for research projects, conducts informed consent, processes specimen samples, prepare and conduct research intakes and research assessments of the participants, prepare research/clinic materials, monitor enrolled subject's physical and emotional condition throughout the study, and perform data entry/data management activities. This position works with oversight by the study coordinator and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), and will work closely with the study physicians to bring potential medical issues to the study physicians for further evaluation. After initial training, this RA will work with other members of the research team with latitude for independent judgment.

<b>Qualifications:
</b></h2><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences (psychology, sociology, health sciences, or related field) or medical sciences, plus three (3) years of research-related experience required.
</p></li><li><p>Certified Research Specialist (CRS) or equivalent to be completed within two years of hire date.
</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:
</b></p><ul><li><p>Computer program experience: Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel and Outlook. Experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems preferred.
</p></li><li><p>Commitment to clinical research and willingness/ability to work with research participants who are substance users and at high risk for infection with HIV/other infectious diseases.
</p></li><li><p>Attention to detail.
</p></li><li><p>Strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments, and outside institutions.
</p></li><li><p>Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
</p></li><li><p>Ability to follow Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, HIPAA, and the Protection of Human Research Subjects.<br>

</b></p><ul><li><p>Assists in the recruitment of participants, including placing ads.
</p></li><li><p>Assists with the phone, returns screening phone calls, schedules, and performs informed consent and screening procedures.
</p></li><li><p>Keeps screening logs up to date and performs outreach activities.
</p></li><li><p>Recruits and enrolls potential participants according to study protocol and standard operating procedures.
</p></li><li><p>Conducts the informed consent process and, as appropriate, obtains authorization(s) for release of information.
</p></li><li><p>With the study physicians, screens participants for study eligibility and randomizes eligible participants.
</p></li><li><p>Schedules participants for study visits.
</p></li><li><p>Serves as the participant tracker.
</p></li><li><p>Performs routine outreach (phone calls, mailings, in-person reminders) to ensure that participants attend study visits and coordinates ride-share services to/from clinic visits.
</p></li><li><p>Keeps in close touch with participants, including tracking and meeting with participants in the community if they have stopped coming to the clinic.
</p></li><li><p>Encourages participants to re-contact the treatment program and resume treatment.
</p></li><li><p>Collects extensive locator information at screening and regularly during the trial to assist in locating and following participants into the community if they fail to return for scheduled visits.
</p></li><li><p>Performs other duties as assigned.<br>
