<div><p>The New England Centenarian Study and Long Life Family Study, based at Boston University School of Medicine seeks a Research Specialist (RS) to be responsible for collection and management of study participant data. This position will work both independently and as a member of a team to collect clinical data from study participants ages 18 to 110+ years during in-person home visits, telephone, and video visits. The Research Specialist will receive standardized training in conducting and scoring the following measures and will work toward certification in these measures in order to perform them independently. The Research Specialist will be trained and certified in administration of the neuropsychological assessment, Short Physical Performance Battery, vitals and anthropometry assessment, neuromotor exam, carotid ultrasound, blood sample processing, phlebotomy, and video visit administration and technical troubleshooting, as needed by the study. They will obtain vital signs measures, conduct cognitive testing, perform carotid ultrasounds, administer physical function assessments, troubleshoot technology, and draw blood, if interested, or coordinate phlebotomy and stool collection with lab agencies. After each visit, the research specialist will score the cognitive data, process digital cognitive and physical function data and will assist with periodic data quality control efforts. The RS receives a list of data that have been flagged for review. The RS determine whether followup questions are required from the participant and collect the necessary information to resolve the error, whether the data were entered incorrectly, or whether the flagged values are valid data outside the typical range. Additionally, the RS will obtain annual follow-up data via mailed and telephone-administered questionnaires. The position is located in Boston, MA. Schedule is Monday-Friday, typically 9:00am-5:00pm but varies depending on daily schedule to accommodate participants. Occasional Saturdays required (3-4 in Spring and 3-4 in Fall). Travel to participants' homes to conduct offsite examinations and coordination of travel logistics for multiple visits may be required. Previous phlebotomy experience is highly desirable though willingness to take part in a phlebotomy course to learn these skills is also acceptable. Spanish fluency is a plus. The RS works one-on-one with participants without supervision to perform assessments and collect data. The RA independently determines the best engagement methods to achieve the participants maximal performance while ensuring their safety and gauges the participants stamina and effort to determine when to terminate the assessments.</p><br>

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES <b>About the Work Unit</b>The Office of Domestic Violence and Sex Offender Management (ODVSOM) exists to perform all tasks related to the administration of the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) and the Domestic Violence Offender Management Board (DVOMB), including serving as the central repository for information concerning all aspects of program administration and compliance, and ensuring compliance with the statutory mandates of these programs.<br>

Each of the Boards is charged with multiple duties related to the comprehensive evaluation, treatment and continued monitoring of convicted domestic violence and sex offenders. The SOMB also has significant duties related to community based technical assistance in the area of notification about the presence of sexually violent predators, the management of sex offenders on lifetime supervision sentences, standards regarding interventions with developmentally disabled sex offenders, and development and implementation of standards for juveniles who commit sexual offenses.<br>

Work is accomplished through the development of public policy in a collaborative environment that is inclusive of criminal justice agencies, treatment professionals, crime victim serving agencies, human services agencies, and other allied professions. About the Job</b>This position serves as the DVOMB and SOMB Data Collection Analyst per statutory requirements. The DVOMB and SOMB have developed data collection plans and this position helps refine and implement these plans. Job duties will include the identification of data collection requirements in conjunction with the DVOMB, SOMB, ODVSOM, and implementation of the data collection plans. This role will include training of providers, providing technical assistance, ensuring the integrity of the data, and doing data analysis. Following completion of the initial phase of data collection, this position will work collaboratively on the development of a Phase II data collection process that may include tracking clients over time and across providers. Finally, this position will coordinate duties with the existing ODVSOM Statistical Analyst.<br>

Position will develop and apply current, accepted and proven research designs. Position coordinates statewide data collection and has primary responsibility for statistical analysis of all data collected regarding the evaluation, treatment, and polygraph assessment of adults and juveniles who have committed a sexual offense from approved providers. This includes, but is not limited to, coordination and collaboration with the Division&rsquo;s Office of Research and Statistics (ORS) through such mechanisms as attending regular ORS staff meetings, ORS review of research design and analysis, regularly scheduled meetings with the research director, and shared research projects with ORS; working with approved providers who will be submitting data; working with an IRB as appropriate; and the creation of an assessment tool and collecting the data, managing the data, analyzing the data, and interpreting the results.<br>

<b>Literature Review</b><br>
Position conducts ongoing literature and research reviews to maintain an expert level of understanding of the developments in the sex offender and domestic violence offender management fields, and upon request from SOMB and DVOMB committees. Position periodically provides this information to the SOMB and DVOMB, and ODVSOM staff.<br>

<b>Prepare Written Reports</b><br>
Position annually prepares written documents, including the Lifetime Supervision and Annual Legislative Reports, which will be submitted by the Department to the Judiciary Committees of the House and the Senate and to the Joint Budget Committee of the General Assembly.<br>

<b>Training and Technical Assistance</b><br>
Work with approved evaluators, treatment providers, and polygraph examiners to provide training, support and technical assistance regarding the ODVSOM data collection. This will require a significant amount of initial training statewide to the more than 400 approved providers, and then be available to provide ongoing support and assistance on data collection requirements.
