JOB SUMMARY
The Communication and Partnership (C&amp;P) Director is a senior member of the FP2030 Executive Team based at the UN Foundation (UNF). FP2030 is in the process of finalizing a new strategy and the C&amp;P Director will lead in shaping and executing the communications strategy for the globally connected and country driven partnership and will oversee the quality of internal and external communications. He/she reports to FP2030&rsquo;s Executive Director and will work very closely with the Chief Operating Officer and key leaders and managers across the country and program portfolios. The Director will serve as a shared resource for internal and external partners, as well as within the Global Communications and Engagement team at UNF.

The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional with a proven track record of building and executing successful, global and country communications strategies and campaigns to drive growth and increase community engagement to accelerate impact. The candidate will also oversee the communications aspects of FP2030&rsquo;s: &ldquo;Made Possible by Family Planning&rdquo; to raise more funding, spark new leadership and voices, and ignite new momentum to ensure rights-based family planning for all people everywhere.

The Communication and Partnership Director will work closely with the Executive Director and the leadership team to elevate our new strategy and advance strategic priorities, expand the reach of our brand and positioning, strengthen message alignment and support fundraising. The Director will develop a top-notch communication strategy and strategic positioning for FP2030 at the upcoming events ensuring strategic positioning and clarity of messages. FP2030 is also updating our website, and this position will oversee the critical changes needed for future fit and ensure a quality website that reflects FP2030 principles and values of diversity, equity, and inclusion and is user friendly to share resources, tools and information in multiple languages across the globe.

This position is full-time, one-year term, benefits eligible, with possibility of extension. This role can be based in Washington, D.C. (hybrid schedule) or in the UK, remote.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul><li>Provide strategic counsel to FP2030 leadership on messaging and external positioning, including the executive director, COO, portfolio and program directors, and UNF Communication team</li>
<li>Shape and influence FP2030&rsquo;s strategic narrative with senior country leadership, including ministers and government stakeholders, while positioning the organization as a trusted and authoritative voice among key global partners, multilateral institutions, and major funders (e.g., World Bank/GFF, UNFPA, RHSC)</li>
<li>Oversee development of an integrated communications strategy and an annual work plan that positions FP2030 to achieve the partnership&rsquo;s strategic priorities</li>
<li>Oversee FP2030&rsquo;s brand, organizational voice, and visual identity. Define organization-wide messaging, develop tailored narratives for specific audiences, and provide guidance and oversight to ensure alignment and consistency with FP2030&rsquo;s core messaging across a range of outward-facing materials. Work collaboratively with other team leads, as well as regional communications officers, to develop language and messaging that connects FP2030&rsquo;s core messaging with team specific needs</li>
<li>Lead communications and thought leadership strategy that elevates FP2030&rsquo;s brand, increases its reach, and further establishes expertise and credibility</li>
<li>Oversee the changes to FP2030&rsquo;s website to ensure future fit to meet the needs of a country led, regionally managed and globally connected partnership</li>
<li>Manage communications team members, budget, vendors, and a large and wide-ranging project portfolio</li>
<li>Represent FP2030 at meetings, conferences, and events focused on family planning issues as needed and oversee FP2030&rsquo;s visibility through high impact events and leadership visibility</li>
<li>Provides creative direction and oversee production and launch of FP2030&rsquo;s signature publication, the annual progress report, a compelling report on the progress of contraceptive use, the success of commitments as well as the impact of FP2030&rsquo;s partnerships</li>
<li>Develop and manage strong relationships with external partners to facilitate their strategic engagement with FP2030&rsquo;s platforms, channels, and messaging</li>
<li>Work in close collaboration with partners to proactively identify strategic media relations opportunities and respond to media inquiries</li>
<li>Oversee development of content for communications materials such as op-eds, press releases, fact sheets, talking points, and event briefings as needed</li>
<li>Coordinate with the UN Foundation Global Communications &amp; Engagement team to ensure incorporation of FP2030 events, materials and messaging across UN Foundation channels as appropriate</li>

Director of Communications and Partnerships, FP2030, is not a supervisory role.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION and/or EXPERIENCE

This is a benefits eligible, full-time non-exempt position that will require 35 hours of work, with flexibility, during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM EST. The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $122,000, commensurate with experience.

THE ROLE
The Director of Communications is responsible for creating and managing organizational narrative, brand, and press strategies that shape the narrative around NIRH&rsquo;s work to advance proactive reproductive freedom measures. In this role, you will actively focus on media engagement and placement, maintaining national reporter relationships, organizing and streamlining communications resources and assets, generating and updating organizational talking points and messaging materials, and staffing key spokespeople in media interviews. The Director of Communications will collaborate with the digital communications team to ensure brand and message consistency across NIRH platforms and the Director of Campaigns and Partnership Communications to ensure NIRH communications aligns with overall campaign goals.
The Director will also represent the organization in relevant communications coalitions and contribute thought leadership with VP of Communications as to overall strategy, priorities, and positioning.
WHAT YOU&rsquo;LL DO:
<ul><li>Manage NIRH brand, including visual identity, voice, and core messaging, to ensure consistency, effectiveness, accessibility, and values alignment.
<ul><li>Collaborate closely with digital communications team and other departments to ensure message and brand consistency across platforms (e.g., messaging on website and social media).
</li><li>In rapid response moments, work with full communications team to identify response opportunities or needs and coordinate on messaging and tactics.
</li></ul></li><li>Ensure NIRH messaging is effective, aligns with Reproductive Justice values, and decreases stigma surrounding abortion and reproductive health generally.
<ul><li>Create strategic messaging on various reproductive freedom issues in support of NIRH goals.
</li><li>Conduct message testing on key reproductive health, rights, and justice topics and ensure messaging is shared within organization and movement.
</li><li>Coordinate with other reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations to identify effective messages that align with NIRH values.
</li><li>Collaborate with the Director of Campaigns and Partnership Communications to ensure alignment across NIRH partner-focused campaigns and NIRH-specific communications efforts.
</li><li>Coordinate with Director of Campaigns and Partnerships Communications and Vice President of Communications to ensure strategic and narrative alignment across NIRH communications and the tools and resources developed for NIRH campaigns and partnerships.

</li><li>Develop relationships and pitch reporters, create press events, and staff events as needed.

<ul><li>Collaborate with VP of Communications and with other departments to track major developments pertaining to the reproductive freedom movement, assessing, planning for, and working collaboratively to execute rapid response plans.
</li><li>Manage communications calendar and ensure transparency across organization
</li><li>Work across departments to coordinate rollouts of issue briefs, requests for proposals for partnerships, and other projects.
</li><li>Work with the development team on fundraising events, End of Year, and other projects with communications components.
</li><li>May manage digital communications associate director, who manages a multimedia content creator, and vendors as needed.
</li></ul></li><li>Lead, advise, or coordinate on special projects as needed.

</li><li>Work with other Communications team members and cross-departmentally for thought leadership and project planning and execution, including policy reports, RFP releases, fundraising events, and other projects.
