Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Develops and executes a multi-year logistics strategy to centralize and optimize long-haul transportation across Casella, leading to a shared services logistics organization supporting both third-party and intercompany tractor-trailer operations.</li><li>
Creates and defines organizational structure, roles, governance, and performance management while partnering with regional and operational leaders to drive adoption.</li><li>
Leads all aspects of third-party long-haul transportation, including carrier sourcing, contracting, and rate negotiation, while managing contractual compliance &amp; risk and long-term service relationships.</li><li>
Establishes standardized processes for dispatch, routing, load planning, compliance, and exception management, while also implementing carrier scorecards and KPIs focused on cost, service, safety, and reliability.</li><li>

Partners with multiple divisions across Casella to proactively identify and mitigate regulatory, contractual, and operational risk.

Summary
The Director of Transportation Procurement develops and implements enterprise‑wide transportation and logistics sourcing strategies. The incumbent in this role delivers sourcing strategy development, execution, and optimization for key modes of transportation&mdash;LTL, TL, Fleet, Ocean, Air Freight, and other assigned areas&mdash;with a core focus on transportation and supply chain partners. 
The leader in this role manages the sourcing process for carriers, from supplier/service evaluation to contract negotiation and compliance monitoring. The role also coordinates and manages the ongoing supplier management process, maintains an understanding of enterprise needs and industry best practices, and manages logistics and carrier sourcing efforts using advanced sourcing optimization tools to maximize return on managed spend and sustain strong supplier relationships. 
Additionally, this role successfully liaises between site locations and the supporting corporate functions of transportation, logistics, and warehousing to implement updates that support business initiatives.
