A Day in the Life
As a Laboratory Technician , you&rsquo;ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.
The compensation range for this role is $23.00 to $24.50 , commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">We are looking for a full-time Laboratory Technician I to fill our 2nd shift, Monday - Friday position, in our Wilmington, NC lab. The regular work schedule for this position may vary depending on departmental and operational requirements. Employees in this role may be required to work different shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may also be required based on workload and business needs. Flexibility and reliability in scheduling are essential for this position.

As a Chemical Lab Technician (4th Period), you will support safe and reliable power generation through chemical analysis, environmental sampling, equipment monitoring, and laboratory testing. This is a day shift position; however, overtime and extended shifts may be required to support plant operations.

What You'll Do<ul><li>
Collect, prepare, and analyze coal, water, environmental, and plant chemical samples to support plant operations, environmental compliance, and reliability.</li><li>
Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, monitoring systems, chemical feed systems, and demineralizing equipment.</li><li>
Work safely in an industrial environment using hand tools, laboratory equipment, handheld technology, and overhead cranes while following established procedures and maintaining accurate records.</li></ul>
What You'll Need<ul><li>
High school diploma or GED required.</li><li>
Must have successfully completed the following college coursework with a C average or higher:<ul><li>
Twenty semester hours of college-level chemistry.</li><li>

Perform cleanings of wastewater process equipment (as assigned).</li><li>
Monitor the operation of all wastewater processing equipment.</li><li>
Maintain the operational performance of the wastewater equipment.</li><li>
Identify and report operating anomalies to the Operations Supervisor or Maintenance Department.</li><li>
Direct and assist with the operation of the sludge transfer and dewatering systems.</li><li>
Conduct basic laboratory tests to evaluate wastewater samples, as directed.</li></ul> 
Schedule:<ul><li>
Monday-Friday, average 8 to 10 hours per day. Flexible with start time (facility runs 6 am to 6:30 pm). 10-20% OT including some Saturdays.</li></ul> 
Requirements:<ul><li>
Wastewater certification preferred.</li><li>
1 year experience as Waste Water Treatment Technician</li><li>
High School diploma/GED. Formal training in higher level of education preferred.</li><li>
With adequate training after being hired, be able to install and operate remediation systems including but not limited to pumps, filters, vessels, media change-outs, etc.</li><li>
Shop work including but not limited to cleaning and maintaining shop and equipment, operating heavy equipment (forklifts, Vac-Trucks, etc.).</li><li>
Strong attention to details with the ability to analyze</li><li>
Highly dedicated worker with sense of teamwork</li><li>
Ability to thrive on hard work and demonstrated pride in solutions-oriented result</li></ul> 
Physical Demands:<ul><li>
Candidate must have the ability to work in outdoor elements/weather</li><li>
Must be able to lift, push, pull and stand for extended periods</li><li>
Must be able to wear a full-face respirator as needed</li></ul>

Pay Transparency

It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $43,100.00 - $57,400.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
