<br>About the Position
<br>Evergreen Goodwill is seeking a highly experienced Senior HVAC Mechanic responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial HVAC systems across multiple retail stores, warehouses, and administrative facilities. This role supports large-scale heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems that ensure safe, comfortable, and efficient environments for employees, customers, and program participants.
<br>The Senior HVAC Mechanic performs advanced diagnostics, oversees preventive maintenance for complex HVAC equipment, and coordinates with external vendors for major repairs and system upgrades. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with commercial HVAC systems in large facilities such as retail stores, warehouses, or distribution centers.
<br>Essential Functions & Responsibilities
<br>Commercial HVAC Maintenance and Repair
<br><ul>
<li>Maintain and repair commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, air handling units, make-up air units, exhaust systems, and warehouse ventilation equipment.</li>
<li>Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, airflow, and refrigeration issues affecting large building systems.</li>
<li>Repair or replace compressors, motors, belts, relays, contactors, sensors, thermostats, and other system components.</li>
<li>Inspect, test, and calibrate thermostats, economizers, and building control systems.</li>
<li>Perform refrigerant leak detection, system evacuation, and recharging in compliance with EPA regulations.</li>
</ul>
Preventive Maintenance
<br><ul>
<li>Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC equipment across Evergreen Goodwill facilities.</li>
<li>Conduct routine inspections of rooftop units, mechanical rooms, duct systems, and ventilation equipment.</li>
<li>Replace filters, belts, bearings, and other wear components to ensure reliable system performance.</li>
<li>Identify aging or failing equipment and recommend repair or replacement strategies.</li>
</ul>
Facilities Support
<br><ul>
<li>Respond to HVAC-related work orders and service requests from stores, warehouses, and administrative offices.</li>
<li>Assist the Facilities team with mechanical system maintenance when necessary.</li>
<li>Support emergency HVAC repairs that impact store operations or building safety.</li>
</ul>
Vendor and Project Coordination
<br><ul>
<li>Coordinate with external HVAC contractors for major repairs, installations, and equipment replacements.</li>
<li>Assist with evaluating vendor work and ensuring repairs meet organizational standards.</li>
<li>Provide technical input for HVAC upgrades, replacements, and facility improvement projects.</li>
</ul>
Safety and Compliance
<br><ul>
<li>Ensure all HVAC work complies with OSHA safety requirements, EPA refrigerant regulations, and local building codes.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.</li>
<li>Identify safety hazards related to mechanical systems and recommend corrective actions.</li>

<div><div><p><b>Amentum</b> is looking for an experienced <b>HVAC Mechanic</b> to join our team in <b>Springfield, VA. </b>The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Mechanic installs, modifies, and repairs refrigeration - hermetic, semi-hermetic, mechanical, screw, scroll and centrifugal units to 1100 tons; air conditioning, ventilation; reverse osmosis systems, computer rooms; process coolers; ice machines; evaporative cooling; air compressing and related control systems, including pneumatic, DDC, and building control systems equipment. Maintains and repairs stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries by performing the following duties.</p>

<p>Responsibilities:</p>

Salary and Benefit Information</p><div>
The likely salary range for this position is $72,250 - $97,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.<br>

   Designs, adapts and/or fabricates and assembles apparatuses and equipment; adapt equipment for special applications and requirements; determine proper sizing and selections of materials and equipment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Installs and/or repairs refrigeration and associated equipment such as: air conditioning systems, water coolers and refrigeration units. Installs, maintains, balances and/or repairs building heating furnaces, comfort boilers, gas fired space heaters, comfort water heaters and controls for all such equipment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Operates various material handling equipment such as floor controlled or overhead cranes, prime movers or work savers to perform work pertaining to the craft; may occasionally operate a fork truck or man lift in performing work related to the craft.
  </li>
  <li>
   Assists, directs and trains apprentices in the HVAC craft.
  </li>
  <li>
   Maintains records and follows recordkeeping processes.
