Fire Captains are also subject to final OSHA standards on blood borne pathogens, may be required to wear a respirator and may be required to work in close quarters.</p><p>Work is performed under general supervision of Battalion Chief and is evaluated through observation, conferences, and written reports concerning the quality and effectiveness of incident response.</p><p>Th Fire Captain role participates in operations including performing difficult public safety, fire prevention, and supervisory responsibilities in the fire station on an assigned shift. This role leads the shift in emergency response including immediate supervision in fire attack inside structures, in emergency medical response, and in the daily cleaning and maintenance activities including apparatus and equipment maintenance, station and grounds maintenance, and related activities.</p><p>Other duties include supervising and participating in the preparation of fire reports; and various projects for the department requiring coordination of paid staff. Work requires that this role stay abreast of state-of-the-art fire, hazardous materials, and rescue procedures, techniques, and equipment and requires the employee to incorporate the necessary changes into in-service training.</p><p>Judgment and ability to make effective decisions under pressure are required, particularly in directing staff in incident response.</p><p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Reports for tour of duty on-time;  </strong>
 The Firefighter performs firefighting and fire-prevention activities to protect life and property. Assists other personnel in controlling fire scenes or performing other specialized activities as assigned. Ensure the station, apparatus, and equipment are always ready. Trains daily while on duty to ensure skills are superior to the expectations of our citizens. Assist other Florence County Fire Rescue bureaus as needed to enhance collaboration and improve overall emergency response effectiveness. Promotes a professional and honorable appearance in our community.

  Essential Functions
  <br/>
  <br/>
 </strong>
 <ul>
  <li>
   Responds to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, accidents, and hazardous situations.
  </li>
  <li>
   Suppress and extinguish fires using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Perform search-and-rescue operations in dangerous, time-sensitive environments.
  </li>
  <li>
   Provide emergency medical care, including CPR, first aid, and basic life support.
  </li>
  <li>
   Operate around fire apparatus, including engines, ladder trucks, and other support vehicles.
  </li>
  <li>
   Inspect buildings and enforce fire safety codes and regulations.
  </li>
  <li>
   Clean and maintain firefighting equipment and ensure operational readiness.
  </li>
  <li>
   Complete thorough and accurate incident reports.
  </li>
  <li>
   Participate in ongoing training, drills, and community outreach programs.
  </li>
  <li>
   Maintains physical fitness that ensures success with job demands, annual stress test, and annual agility test.

   Performs all other related duties as required by the Fire Chief.

  Qualifications: Education and Experience

   High School Diploma or GED
  </li>
  <li>
   Must be at least 18 years of age.
  </li>

   Must have a valid SC Driver&rsquo;s License w/ good driving record.

   Medical First Responder
