OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Under limited supervision, plans, implements, and evaluates a developmentally appropriate and inclusive educational curriculum for children in the Early Head Start/Head Start program. Acts as Site Supervisor as designated. Performs as an educator for assigned children. Supervises the activities of the center&rsquo;s educational program.</p><p></p><p>
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:</p><ul><li>
Performs as an educator for assigned children in the classroom throughout the child&rsquo;s enrollment in the program. Supports primary care-giving in meeting the personal care of children, including safety and visual supervision.</li><li>
Plans, implements and supervises a developmentally appropriate and inclusive educational curriculum for young children, in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, policies and procedures and Easterseals Southern California (ESSC) standards of conduct. Conducts home visits and parent conferences within required timelines.</li><li>
Ensures individual child goals are created and implemented with parent input. Maintains weekly lesson plans, progress and anecdotal notes, and current paperwork. Completes child screenings and assessments within required timeframe.</li><li>
Coordinates and conducts bi-monthly classroom unit meetings. Provides input to evaluate volunteers and college interns. Actively participates in staff meetings, parent meetings, and in-service training. Participates in planning associate and parent training activities, parent meetings and workshops.</li><li>
Coordinates parent education, training and support for pregnant women including prenatal education, breast-feeding information, and other health resources.</li><li>

EDUCATION:</p><ul><li>
B.A. Degree in early childhood education, child development and/or related field.</li><li>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:</p><ul><li>
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Skype).</li><li>
Able to develop knowledge of infant and toddler development, safety issues in infant and toddler childcare settings (i.e., reducing the risk of SIDS).</li><li>
Must complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training as well as Pesticide Safety Training (per Healthy Schools Act) prior to beginning work.</li><li>
Ability to properly interpret and implement regulations of the California Department of Education, Funding Terms and Conditions (Title 5), Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing (Title 22), Head Start Performance Standards, and of Easterseals policies and procedures.</li><li>
Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to children and their families and maintain a positive effect.</li><li>

</div><ul><li>Supervises and manages daily functions for a class of children</li>
<li>Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis</li>
<li>Provides an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages creativity, exploration, and decision-making by the children</li>
<li>Ensures that all class bulletin boards are current and provides the parents with an overview of the material taught in class</li>
<li>Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas, and playgrounds</li>
<li>Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, naptime, and bathroom activities</li>
<li>Attends all required staff meetings, workshops, and/or school functions as determined by the Director</li>
<li>Observes all rules and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children</li>
<li>Maintains a professional personal appearance, attitude, and work behavior at all times</li>
<li>Plans with Education Coach and implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule using the Primrose School curriculum outlines and materials</li>
<li>Plans with the Director all required parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations</li>

<div>We are hiring a<b> Classroom Teacher</b> in our <b>Infant </b>wing. This nurturing role focuses on the needs and development of infants from six weeks to fifteen months of age. This role requires a creative, positive, and compassionate team player who is focused on providing top-notch child care and collaborating with likeminded teachers.</div>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>You'll thrive in this role if you have:</b></h3><ul>
<li>EEC Infant/Toddler Certification, CDA, or equivalent degree and experience (required)</li>
<li>Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting</li>
<li>A nurturing demeanor and a love for infants and their development</li>

<li>Flexibility to work an 8-hour shift within the operating hours of the school, including opening and closing shifts</li>

</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>As an Infant Teacher, you will be responsible for:</b></h3><ul>
<li>Collaborating with your co-teacher to equally prepare curriculum, lesson plans, materials, and monthly newsletters.</li>
<li>Keeping parents informed by posting parent information on the Class Dojo app and classroom boards.</li>
<li>Providing a safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean, and appealing classrooms.</li>
<li>Encouraging children&rsquo;s participation by providing age-appropriate interactive activities.</li>
<li>Maintaining cleanliness of the classroom: routine opening/closing of the classroom (including, but not limited to wiping down the toys, cleaning tables, vacuuming the room, sanitizing the room (after all children have left), bathrooms, emptying trash, and overall preparation of the classroom for the next morning.</li>
<li>Engaging with students in free play, supervising/zone during outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, bottle and meal assistance (preparing bottles, heating up lunches, cutting up food, helping open containers, supervision), naptime assistance, etc.</li>
<li>Adhering to infants' individual feeding and sleeping schedules.</li>
<li>Tracking children&rsquo;s progress and completing assessments.</li>
<li>Maintaining your EEC required professional development hours and PQ registry.</li>
<li>Attending monthly staff meetings.</li>
<li>Creating a fun and safe learning environment for your students.</li>
<li>Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.</li>
