Overview:

The IS Mechanical Designer II will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.</div>
Responsibilities:

As a member of a project team, the Physical Substation Designer performs routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic deign techniques and procedures, under limited supervision. A minimum of five years experience in physical substation design, or related experience, is required. An Associate's degree in drafting & design is preferred. Successful candidates with more than five years of experience may be placed in more senior level designer titles depending on skill.

<li>Strong knowledge of the major components of substations and the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge and proven experience creating the bill of materials as it relates to a substation.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge physical substation layout, elevations, grounding, foundations, and conduit</li>
<li>Ability to produce steel drawings is a plus.</li>
<li>General knowledge of control circuits and ground grid theory & design</li>
<li>Extensive knowledge of CADD programs such as AutoCAD</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of civil/structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI) is a plus.</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook</li>
<li>Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry.</li>

About you and this role:</div><div>
The Lead Piping Designer provides specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. Understands and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within their discipline. The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as an inspector, designer on large projects or lead for their discipline on projects. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.</div><div></div><div>
Responsibilities:</div><ul><li><div>
May act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others.</div></li><li><div>
Share Accountability with the Project Piping Lead for compliance with the TES and project safety initiatives.</div></li><li><div>
Responsible for providing input to the Piping Lead on designer resource requirements including appropriate quantity and skill set of designers for the project scope.</div></li><li><div>
Accountable for the overall allocation, maintenance, and reporting of designers thorough the project.</div></li><li><div>
Maintain awareness of schedule, milestones, and challenges of the project and communicate to the Project Piping Lead.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinate training for designers.</div></li><li><div>
Assist in project reviews and team checks as required to ensure quality.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinate implementation of Piping Best practices.</div></li><li><div>
Drive the implementation of Dow MET and best practices.</div></li><li><div>
Ensure compliance with Dow standards maximizing value for the business and providing the lowest long-term cost to operate and maintain.</div></li><li><div>

Qualifications:</div><ul><li><div>
A bachelor's degree AND 3 years of relevant work experience OR 8 years of experience in piping engineering design.</div></li><li><div>

Project Leadership Skills: Ability to facilitate cross functionally a coordinated effort to accomplish a project. To identify steps to milestones needed to accomplish the goals of a project. Examples: Identifying the actions needed to meet an LPP standard in the facility, and leading a small team to implement the actions.</div></li><li><div>
