<p>
Perform various functions in the Clinical lab related to data entry, specimen handling, centrifuging, pouring off and preparing specimens for testing, preparing peripheral smears by automated methods, loading bar-coded specimens on analyzers, automated process of sorting, decapping, aliquotting and archiving specimens and assisting Clinical Supervisors/Managers in the day to day operation of the laboratory as necessary.</p>
<p><b>
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for accurately capturing computer images for using software.</li>
<li>Perform data entry concerning patient demographics information, copying requisitions for case folders, and imaging.</li>
<li>Handle specialty specimens including assembling specimen folders, printing labels, sorting samples by department, filling out paperwork for add-on testing and sending out samples for reference testing.</li>
<li>Clean, and file specialty testing slides.</li>
<li>Receive inbound calls from physicians, laboratories, nurses, clients, sales reps, clinics, and hospitals and directs those calls to appropriate personnel and communicate with clients, as necessary.</li>
<li>Collect information related to client inquiries/complaints and communicate to Client Services Representative for follow-up and response.</li>
<li>Transport and help maintain organization of documentation stored off-site. Review retention times and dispose of appropriate pieces of documentation when retention times are met.</li>
<li>Responsible for maintaining and reviewing pending lists and ensuring fulfillment of referral testing TAT's.</li>
<li>Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.</li>
<li>Handle difficult calls tactfully, courteously, and professionally.</li>
<li>Routine clerical duties including filing, faxing, inventory of supplies for the various departments, receiving and distributing mail.</li>

<li>Performs specimen processing as needed. For example, proper identification, aliquoting, plate streaking, preparing slides, special handling, and required documentation.</li>
<li>Follows established procedures and policies including infection control and bloodborne pathogens.</li>
<li>Handles chemicals according to established safety protocols.</li>
<li>Meets defined workload productivity standards. Supports and utilizes LEAN principles.</li>

Youth Central is a small, diverse team dedicated to providing fun and engaging enrichment programs for 4th&ndash;12th graders while introducing them to the college environment at Central Piedmont.</p><b>
This is a seasonal position from July 20th- July 30th, 2026.</b><p><b><br>
General Function:</b></p><p>
The Lab Assistant supports the delivery of youth enrichment programs during the Fall, Spring, &amp;/or Summer session. This position assists instructors with classroom activities, helps facilitate a safe and engaging learning environment, and provides general administrative and operational support to ensure program success.</p><i>

<p></p><div><ul><li>Engage students in a fun and positive manner</li><li>Assists with administrative preparation of camps</li><li>Organize student information and maintain accurate records for each camp session</li><li>Track dietary restrictions and allergies to ensure safety</li><li>Keep inventory of materials and supplies and clearly communicate the need for additional purchases</li><li>Model professionalism and accountability by adhering to the dress code and college policies</li><li>Responsibility and supervision of students during drop-off, pick-up, and classroom/camp time</li><li>Willing and able to multi-task, be timely, and resolve conflicts as they arise</li><li>At ease with communicating with students, parents/caregivers, and faculty/staff in a professional manner</li><li>Required to complete the college&rsquo;s ongoing compliance training in a timely manner</li><li>Report any notable concerns or incidents to the Assistant Director or Executive Director respectively.</li><li>Additional duties as assigned</li></ul></div><p></p>

<p></p><div><ul><li>High School Diploma or GED required; must be 18 years of age or older</li><li>Strong organization, planning and communication skills</li><li>Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team</li><li>Ability and willingness to be committed to working scheduled camps</li><li>Dependable, approachable, patient, and sensitive to the needs of a diverse group of students</li><li>Ability to travel to Central Piedmont campuses with reliable transportation</li><li>Must be willing to conduct a background check</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication</li></ul><p><b>
Preferred Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Experience working with youth and families from diverse and cultural backgrounds either in a similar or related capacity</li><li>CPR/Basic First Aid certification a plus</li></ul></div><p></p>
