Job is complex and requires employees to have good organization skills and is able to learn and understand specimen types related to test(s) ordered by clients. The SPT I must have the ability to learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change daily. This position is critical to quality for customer satisfaction. Additionally, since many changes do occur from day to day, great flexibility on the part of the SPT I is required. The SPT I will be exposed to many different demands made by the customer. Majority of SPT I work on the nightshift but based on staffing needs, weekends, holidays, on call and overtime availability is a requirement.

JOB SUMMARY </b>Laboratory Assistants/Phlebotomists are non-professional personnel with training in areas of the clinical laboratory useful to the overall efficiency and smooth operation of the laboratory. Our Sleep Laboratory</b> located in Newark De is looking for a full-time <b>Medical Office Assistant I</b><b> </b>is responsible for creating a friendly, welcoming, calm and efficient environment for the practice. The Medical Office Assistant I serves patients with poise and compassion, fields phone calls, answers patient questions, schedules appointments, registers patients, updates the EMR and represents the sleep laboratory every time there is interaction with a patient.</p><p></p><p>
The responsibilities of the Medical Office Assistant I will include but are not limited to.</p><ul><li>
Schedules appointments with awareness of insurance, provider, and practice location</li><li>
Greets and interacts with patients in a professional manner to collect required demographic and financial information. Processes/verifies referral information and eligibility for insurance reimbursement as needed.</li><li>
Maintains confidentiality of workplace &amp; patient information.</li><li>
Collects payments according to insurance requirements.</li><li>
Verify insurance coverage &amp; coordinates referrals.</li><li>
Performs day-end reconciliation of appointments &amp; payments received.</li><li>
Answer all phone calls in a professional manner and relays accurate messages.</li><li>
Put messages in to provider(s) and respond to messages from provider(s).</li><li>
Communicate with provider and staff through EMR.</li><li>
Communicate with internal and external departments.</li><li>
Keeps patients up to date on issues until resolution can be accomplished.</li><li>
Facilitate testing, labs, appointments, etc for patients.</li><li>
Prepares medical records to include scanning and indexing tests, reports, etc into patient charts as needed.</li><li>
Responsible for researching issues and responding to the patient in a timely and professional manner.</li><li>
Assists with copying, faxing, and general administrative support.</li><li>
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.</li><li>
Performs other related duties as required.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>

Office Hours:</b></p><ul><li>
Day Shift - 8:00am - 4:30pm (7:30am - 4p while training)</li></ul><p></p><p><b>
Qualifications:</b></p><p>
High School Graduate or equivalent required.</p><p>
Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.</p><p></p><p><b>
Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:</b></p><p>
Knowledge of insurance carriers</p><p>
Preferred knowledge of ICD, CPT Codes &amp; Medical Terminology</p><p>
Knowledge of physician office systems and practices</p><p>
Ability to work with computers</p><p>
Knowledge of referral process</p><p>

Hourly Pay Range: $17.32 - $25.12<p></p>
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare&rsquo;s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
