JOB SUMMARY 
Performs a wide range of laboratory tests on various patient samples (MLT I: under supervision of experienced testing staff). 2. Performs calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance on testing systems and instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy. Maintenance may include, testing system upkeep, troubleshooting, cleaning, sterility testing and quality control.(20%)<div>
3. Performs the following tasks as required.(20%) 
<ul><li>Performs collections from patients by venipuncture, finger sticks or other approved site.</li><li>Prepares specimens and supplies for transport and/or shipping according to DLS procedures and policies, as required. Follows IATA shipping regulations.</li><li>Performs breath alcohol test (BAT) and forensic urine drug collection (UDC), including same sex observed.</li><li>Compiles performance study data using programs such as Excel and EP Evaluator.</li><li>Trains and performs competency assessment on staff as designated.</li><li>As needed, provides morgue services 24/hours, 7 days/week, 365 days/year -follows all morgue procedures to meet regulatory requirements for the handling of bodies related to morgue duties. oFollows the morgue documentation processes and logging systems for all deceased; stores logs and documentation and ensures information is kept safe and confidential.
 
oPerforms handling, removal, and storage of deceased HHSC patients from the Emergency Department or facility patient floors in morgue refrigerators/refrigerated locker(s). Shall shroud, tag and log the deceased in accordance with regulatory requirements. 
oAssists with viewing of the patient&rsquo;s body in coordination with social work/care and/or nursing administration.

<div>Job Summary and Responsibilities 
As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment. 
 
Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction. 
 
To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment. 
<ul><li>
Aligning with local and state requirements performs lab test procedures on patient specimens adhering to the Section&rsquo;s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting.</li><li>
Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of appropriate caregivers of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits</li><li>
Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures; including contacting of instrument vendor for assistance or repair</li><li>
Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are being performed within established parameters</li><li>
Performs proficiency testing as assigned and review results with laboratory clinical leaders</li><li>
Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment to provide the physician with the most current laboratory technology</li></ul>
