General Description.</b></p>
<p>
A skilled laborer is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs skilled work in connection with heavy, civil construction projects involving roads, bridges and highways. Will assist construction and/or paving crew with various duties including, but not limited to: shoveling and raking, running wheelbarrow, operating small power tools such as jackhammer and assists in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic devices, Will perform other duties as assigned.</p>
<p><b>
Key Duties.</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Requires little independent judgment.</li>
<li>Measures distance from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.</li>
<li>Bolts, nails, aligns, and block up under forms.</li>
<li>Signals operators of construction or asphalt equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.</li>
<li>Level earth or asphalt to grade specifications, using picks, shovels and rakes.</li>
<li>Mixes concrete and applies caulking compounds.</li>
<li>Variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, and mounting pipe hangers.</li>

<li>Prior experience in automotive repair, vehicle dismantling, or the operation of tools and machinery, as well as familiarity with automotive parts and/or working with retail customers.</li>

<p><b>Physical Requirements and Work Environment</b></p>
<p>
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch regularly throughout the assigned work shift to perform customer care, production, and environmental and safety functions. Manual dexterity is required to handle tools, operate equipment, and maintain facility cleanliness through tasks such as mopping and sweeping. The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is regularly required to perform routine functions. Sufficient vision to safely perform all job functions as described is also required.</p><br>
