</h2>The Counseling &amp; Testing Center ( CTC ) is seeking skilled mental health clinicians who are dedicated to promoting the mental health of our students. The Counselor will be joining a dedicated and energetic staff at the CTC who are committed to cultural self-awareness and ongoing CTC and campus efforts to offer inclusive and accessible mental health services. In addition to brief counseling services, the CTC engages in active collaboration with campus partners, develops training and programming to address student mental health needs, and provides innovative service delivery. At the CTC our mission is to promote students&rsquo; psychological, academic, social, and cultural growth through professional and confidential counseling services. We accomplish this by maintaining an environment grounded in our values of compassion, collaboration, inclusion, and access. 
 
This is a 10-month, annual appointment. The successful candidate will be working full time for 10 months of the year (August 1 to May 31), and will be put on short work break for the months of June and July.
 
 
Typical office hours (7:45am-4:30pm). Evening hours may be required as we expand our services (e.g., one evening/week), with a schedule adjustment made to maintain an average of 40 hours/week onsite. While no after-hours crisis coverage is required, our clinical staff members occasionally provide evening outreach programming and may be called in for a campus crisis response. 
 
Expectations are to provide both telehealth and in-person counseling services.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment that values innovation, compassion, and professional development.&lt;Responsibilities&gt;<ul><li>Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to accurately identify client needs.</li><li>Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions employing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and art or dance therapy when appropriate.</li><li>Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health episodes effectively, ensuring client safety and stabilization.</li><li>Utilize telehealth platforms to provide remote counseling services while maintaining HIPAA compliance and secure medical documentation practices.</li><li>Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with client goals, incorporating case management and progress tracking through detailed medical records.</li><li>Engage in clinical research and data collection efforts to improve service quality and contribute to evidence-based practices within behavioral health.</li><li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and families to coordinate comprehensive care for clients with disabilities or special needs such as autism or developmental disabilities.</li></ul>&lt;Requirements&gt;<ul><li>Master&rsquo;s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related mental health field from an accredited institution.</li><li>Valid licensure or certification as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), or equivalent state credential.</li><li>Proven experience in outpatient mental health settings with children, adolescents, or adults; clinic experience preferred.</li><li>Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychopharmacology basics, trauma-informed care for PTSD, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and gender issues counseling.</li><li>Familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems for diagnostic evaluation and medical record documentation.</li><li>Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable.</li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct intake assessments and deliver patient-centered care via telehealth or in-person settings.</li><li>Ability to manage crisis situations effectively while demonstrating strong crisis management and behavior management skills.</li><li>Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology relevant to behavioral health documentation is essential. About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County): 
Gateway&rsquo;s largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center. We foster a supportive culture with team-building activities, recognition programs, and a strong mission-driven focus on recovery and rehabilitation. 
Clinical Supervisor responsibilities:<ul><li>
Provides clinical supervision to staff responsible for delivering services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.</li><li>
Oversees client services and ensures compliance with established program standards and service delivery objectives.</li><li>
Recruits, orients, trains, schedules and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.</li><li>
Serves as a resource to assigned staff in identifying and resolving complex case problems.</li><li>
Promotes Counselors&rsquo; professional growth: plans and schedules and / or conducts in-service and continuing education programs on subjects related to assigned specialty, motivates active participation and involvement by staff to develop and maintain their clinical skills.</li><li>
Meets with facility leadership and works with providers/vendors to coordinate delivery of services.</li><li>
Interprets and enforces Gateway treatment program, and funding agency policies and procedures, to orient clients and staff and facilitate rules and regulations and to foster positive client interactions and communications.</li><li>
Serves on variety of department or site committees necessary to plan and evaluate treatment programs and client services. Completes and reviews various special reports and memos regarding program results and activities, and provide recommendations to improve program quality and effectiveness.</li><li>
Maintains and fosters cooperative working relationships with funding or contracting agencies, current and potential referral resources and services, community organizations, and criminal justice and social services agencies.</li><li>
Assumes client caseload in response to work load or staffing shortages.</li></ul>
Job Requirements:<ul><li>
Current license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas.</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or equivalent work experience required. Master's degree preferred.</li><li>
Minimum of 100 hours documented clinical training in counseling theory and practice, plus a minimum of 3 hours of clinical supervision training.</li><li>
3-5 years of experience in a related field, with at least 12 hours of supervisory training and a minimum of 6 months treatment experience, and knowledge of up to date techniques and modalities, and case management, within assigned treatment program required.</li></ul> 
Physical Requirements:
<ul><li>Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients</li><li>
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.</li><li>
Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy, to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, read</li><li>
Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data</li><li>
