 A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MECHANIC
 
 
 
 Performs lubrication and filter replacements, provides general assessment to Lead Mechanic as needed. The purpose of position is to maximize the life of vehicles and equipment and minimize down time.
 
 
 
 Essential Functions

 Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.

 Overhauls or replaces fueling systems, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.

 Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
 </li>
 <li>
 Change oil; grease fittings; change air, fuel and oil filters.
 </li>
 <li>
 Rotate tires as needed.

 Inspect vehicle/equipment and report any possible problems for wear.
 </li>
 <li>
 Raise vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.

SUMMARY
 The Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of engines and diesel engines used to power our fleet trucks, tractor trailers and tankers using hand tools, and machine tools. Our fleet is multi-brand and multi-year. DOT compliance knowledge is a must in keeping our fleet safely on the road. Work is performed in both office and shop settings so exposure to dust, dirt and common mechanical and shop chemicals can be expected; must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, twist and lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Performs annual inspections on trucks, trailers, and pickups</li>

<li>Performs all work within Standard Repair Times</li>
<li>Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns</li>
