<div>Job Summary and Responsibilities 
A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.<div></div> 
Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.<div><div><ul><li>
Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care: Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.</li><li>
Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication: Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.</li><li>
Leadership: Develops accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust and dignity.</li><li>
Professionalism: Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self.</li><li>

18-28 weeks of practice-based orientation focused on hands-on clinical training, where new nurses work closely with experienced preceptors to build their skills gradually.</li><li>

 Department/Position Overview:
 
 
 
 This state-of-the-art 24-bed unit that cares for a wide variety of medical diagnoses from CHF, COPD, Sepsis, Pneumonia, Diabetes, Stroke, end-of-life to name a few. Specializing in care for those with chronic blood disorders such as Sickle Cell. You will also become very knowledgeable in procedures such as wound vacs, high-risk medication infusions, telemetry, trach care, chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, etc. We also offer the ability to take control of your schedule with self-scheduling!
 
 
 Our staff members have different backgrounds that allow us to provide culturally competent care to our patients and families. The best part is learning and growing from each other!
