<b>Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM | Position Pay Range $19.64 - $23.66</b></p>

Summary/Objective:</b></p>
<p>
The Patient Care Technician II (PCT II) is a role dedicated to ensuring the patient has an exceptional patient care experience while in our center by meeting all patient needs. The PCT II will assist the technologist through smooth patient transitions and continuously engaging with the patient on exam expectations and wait times. The PCT II will assist the patient with any incomplete clinical pre-screening forms or consents and conduct the clinical history interview in preparation for the technologist&rsquo;s final review. The position will perform advanced clinical screening interviews specific to CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine examinations for technologist review. In addition, the PCT II will contact the referring provider office to obtain updated orders, clarify orders, and determine when a new order is required. The PCT II must ensure patients are notified when prep/exam details have changed prior to the exam&rsquo;s scheduled date. The PCT II is responsible for requesting and validating the patient&rsquo;s prior reports and images, and ensuring the clinical review has been conducted in a timely manner, prior to the patient&rsquo;s exam. Miscellaneous duties include: stocking the changing rooms, tech supplies etc.</p>
<p><b>
Essential Functions</b></p>
<p>
1. Performs detailed clinical screening of CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine patients for technologist review. Informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety.</p>
<p>
2. Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.</p>
<p>
3. Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist.</p>
<p>
4. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.</p>
<p>
5. Supports the technologists in preparing patients for the exam, helping patients on and off the imaging table, and escorting them back to the lobby or suitable waiting area.</p>
<p>
6. Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors). Obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies.</p>
<p>
7. Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation. Sends images through the PACS system to the appropriate location as needed.</p>
<p>
8. Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and to clarify orders when needed.</p>
<p>
9. Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.</p>

10. Other duties as assigned.</p>

12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.<br>
13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients&rsquo; needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.<br>

8. Performs EKG&rsquo;s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.<br>
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.<br>
10. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.<br>

Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.<br>
12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.

13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients&rsquo; needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.<br>

Job Profile Summary:<br>
Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Patient Care Technician I performs a variety of patient care activities. Receives workplace education and training to assist members of the healthcare team in the care of patients.<br>
I. Major Responsibilities:<br>
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.<br>
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.<br>
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.<br>
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.<br>
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.<br>
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.<br>
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients&rsquo; weights and heights.<br>
8. Performs EKG&rsquo;s, Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.<br>
9. Performs other selected unit specific procedures, such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.<br>
10. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient, obtaining equipment and supplies, helping to position patient, providing the patient with emotional support, and cleaning up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.<br>
11. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.<br>
12. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients&rsquo; needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.<br>
13. Provides respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients, staff, family, visitors and others.<br>
14. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment as needed.<br>
15. Requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.<br>
16. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.<br>

12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
