Project Description: 
 
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston invites applications for a postdoctoral position. This is an appointment for an initial term of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, contingent upon performance, mutual agreement, and funding availability. The tentative start date is November 1, 2026, though an earlier start date is possible. 
 
The Postdoctoral Fellow will join Dr. Demetrio Labate&rsquo;s research group at the University of Houston. The candidate is expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, contribute to the department, college, and university, and actively engage in the academic community. Responsibilities include giving lectures in departmental seminars, presenting research findings at national and international conferences. The candidate will have opportunities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students involved in the project. 
 
Required and Preferred Qualifications:

We seek a candidate with a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field, with experiences in one or more of the following areas: image analysis, harmonic analysis, machine learning, including applications to the analysis of bioimages. The candidates is expected to have familiarity with Python and experience in the development of numerical codes of image analysis and image processing. 
 
MQ: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
PhD Degree in Science/Engineering Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs.</li><li>
Nine (9) year&rsquo;s industry experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the job&rsquo;s assignment.</li><li>
Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.</li><li>
Candidate should be comfortable in working independently or part of a project team, and frequent project presentation. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.</li></ul>

Contacts as appropriate to his/her needs, all levels within Saudi Aramco and its subsidiaries and operating departments in discussions relating to specific technical problems. In civil engineering applications, the incumbent has daily contacts with both Company engineering principals and with contractor engineers.</li><li>

Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and database functions in the Windows environment.</li><li>
Travels to meetings, seminars, and to vendor offices in Dhahran, Houston, and throughout North America</li><li>
