REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President, Operations
 
Position Overview
 The Project Executive of Ohio Mission Critical will be responsible for developing and leading the strategy and operations for our Mission Critical projects. This individual will have a deep understanding of the data center industry, including its construction, design, and operational demands. The Project Executive will work closely with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to secure and deliver high-impact projects while ensuring the profitability and expansion of our Ohio Mission Critical business.
 
The ideal candidate is a seasoned executive with a strong track record in mission critical construction and business development, capable of driving strategic growth and leading cross-functional teams to success.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Leadership & Strategy
 <ul>
<li>Strategic Planning & Vision: Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for Mission Critical Services Practice, aligning with company goals and market trends.</li>
<li>Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Mission Critical sector, building relationships with key clients, developers, and technology companies.</li>
<li>Market Expansion: Model the way to ensure project teams develop strong relationships through project performance creating additional opportunities.</li>
<li>Executive Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of professionals focused on Mission Critical projects, ensuring high performance and alignment with company objectives.</li>
<li>Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other senior leaders to ensure seamless integration of Mission Critical projects with other business units, including pre-construction, operations, and finance.</li>

Project Delivery & Execution
 <ul>
<li>Client Relationships: Maintain and strengthen relationships with key clients, serving as the primary point of contact for high-value Mission Critical projects and contract negotiations.</li>
<li>Operational Excellence: Oversee the execution of Mission Critical Services construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet or exceed client expectations.</li>
<li>Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to cost, schedule, safety, and quality pertaining to Mission Critical projects.</li>
<li>Innovation: Drive the adoption of innovative construction techniques, technologies, and sustainability practices within Mission Critical projects.</li>
</ul>
Financial Management
 <ul>
<li>Profitability & Budgeting: Lead the financial management of the Mission Critical projects, ensuring projects meet financial targets and budgets. Accountable for P&L and operational efficiency.</li>
<li>Cost Control: Develop and implement strategies to optimize cost control across all Mission Critical projects, ensuring maximum profitability without compromising quality.</li>

Team Development
 <ul>
<li>Talent Acquisition & Retention: Build a high-performing team by recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent in the data center market.</li>
<li>Training & Development: Ensure team members receive the necessary training and resources to stay at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.</li>

Qualifications & Experience
 <ul>
<li>Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 10 years in leadership roles overseeing Mission Critical projects.</li>
<li>Industry Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Mission Critical Services construction, including design-build, and technology infrastructure.</li>
<li>Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams and driving business growth in a competitive marketplace.</li>
<li>Business Development: Strong background in securing new business, negotiating contracts, and maintaining long-term client relationships.</li>
<li>Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and P&L responsibilities for complex projects.</li>
<li>Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.</li>
<li>Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CDCP, PMP, LEED, DBIA,) are a plus.</li>

Summary 
The Assistant Vice President Deputy Project Executive manages capital project delivery within a business unit in the MTA Construction and Development (C&amp;D) Delivery Department. This position is responsible for project management activities that ensure project delivery is safe, efficient, on schedule, within budget, and per project documents, contractual requirements, and relevant policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. 
The Assistant Vice President and Deputy Project Executive monitor project status, mitigate risk, and resolve project issues, consulting with and providing recommendations to senior management for critical issue resolution. This position coordinates project delivery activities with C&amp;D and operating agency personnel and manages staff, contractors, consultants, and agency forces in the safe and efficient execution of capital projects. 
Responsibilities
The Vice President Project Executive is responsible for successfully managing and mentoring staff to deliver complex capital projects. 
Coordinate project activities through project close-out. 
Monitor project performance against established baselines and pursue opportunities for improved performance. 
Identify project issues and risks and ensure timely resolution and mitigation. 
Recommend solutions to senior management for the resolution of critical issues. 
Manage project activities to minimize the impact on agency operations and the public. 
Coordinate project activities with the project team, C&amp;D staff, contractors, consultants, MTA operating agency staff, and other stakeholders. 
Coordinate with MTA operating agency staff to ensure necessary actions, approvals, and resources are in place to support project delivery. 
Ensure project activities follow established requirements and adhere to all relevant standards, guidelines, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures. 
Ensure that safety and quality are an integral part of project operations. 
Manage the preparation and monitor implementation of project plans, quality plans, and work plans. 
Coordinate with Safety and Quality Management staff. 
Manage project documentation to ensure quality, completeness, and accuracy. 
Manage and monitor progress against project scope, schedule, and budget. 
Work collaboratively with Development and Contracts throughout the project life-cycle, including developing project scope, requirements, design criteria, and procurement packages, evaluating bids/proposals, negotiating change orders, and timely completing the contractor/consultant evaluation process. 
Review and approve contract invoices and other project charges based on established procedures. Ensure that expenditures are correctly charged. 
Manage comprehensive project document control and retention. 
Manage the preparation of reports, presentations, research, and studies. 
Manage the presentation of project reporting and coordination of audit/inquiry responses for MTA and external oversight bodies. 
Manage staff selection, coaching, training, development, evaluation, and discipline/termination as needed.

Education and Experience 
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field. 
Must have a minimum of fourteen (14) years of related experience in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field. 
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in managing construction programs/projects or a supervisory role in a large, multi-faceted organization. 
Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable. 
PMP and CCM Certifications are preferred. 
Significant experience in project management for major construction projects with highly complex systems preferred. 
Experience leading and managing contractors, subcontractors, or vendors. 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational levels. 
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively. 
Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. 
 
Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements. 
Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
