Mercy University Libraries seeks to hire a multi-year contract, full-time Reference &amp; Instruction Librarian (Assistant/Associate Professor, 12-month appointment) to help lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the libraries&rsquo; information literacy curriculum. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, this librarian will specialize in helping new students (freshman and transfer students) transition to college by developing their information literacy skills and connecting them to library services and resources. This position will also lead the libraries&rsquo; student mentorship program and other work-based experience initiatives.</p>
<p>
The ideal candidate will be passionate about information literacy and have an interest in publishing in academic publications. The candidate will also be able to demonstrate the ability to work with and teach a diverse student population, both online and onsite. The position is based primarily at the Westchester campus library located at 555 Broadway in Dobbs, Ferry. The candidate must be able to travel between campuses and be willing to work at least one day per week at either the Bronx or Manhattan campus.</p><br>

Essential Job Functions &amp; Responsibilities:</b></p>

<li>Provide information literacy instruction for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses in a variety of modalities (Online, hybrid, in-person)</li>
<li>Provide research and information services, including in-person and virtual one-on-one research consultations, desk support, and online chat.</li>
<li>Develop information and research aids such as libguides, webpages, prerecorded videos, and online tutorials.</li>
<li>Develop library programs, services, and communications that foster student engagement and academic success.</li>
<li>Collaborate with offices across campus to integrate library support into student success initiatives.</li>
<li>Assist in exploring technology in innovative ways to teach AI literacy and information literacy skills.</li>

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Library Services, the Instruction &amp; Learning Commons Librarian provides collegewide instructional and reference services in both in-person and virtual environments. The position also coordinates and supports Learning Commons services for Summit Campus (Breckenridge &amp; Dillon) developing programs and partnerships that connect students with academic support and wraparound services. SUMMARY</b>: Reporting to the Director of Reader Services, the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Librarian performs reference, instruction, and outreach duties, with special emphasis on American Indian and Indigenous Studies and the histories of Latin America, the Philippines, and Hawaii, the major strengths of the Ayer and Greenlee collections at the Newberry Library. The Librarian also serves in other functional areas related to these collections, based on the needs of the Library.</p><p></p><p><br>
Between 2026-2030, this position will mainly focus on supporting a Mellon Implementation grant, &ldquo;Expanding Indigenous Access and Stewardship at the Newberry Library.&rdquo; The Mellon-funded Implementation grant is a five-year community-driven initiative that centers Indigenous voices, builds lasting relationships, and creates accessible, sustainable pathways to Indigenous histories and knowledge. Building on a 2020&ndash;2023 Mellon-funded planning grant and larger institutional initiatives, the project will fund community-led research, digitization, and training&mdash;ensuring that American Indian and Alaska Native nations have greater access to and control over the presentation of historical materials that contain their histories and knowledge.</p><p></p><p><br>
This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by AFSCME Council 31.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p><ul><li>
