The Relationship Banker I is a frontline ambassador of our credit union, responsible for delivering exceptional member service while building meaningful relationships. This role combines financial expertise with a consultative approach to uncover member needs and recommend tailored solutions. Relationship Bankers are kind, committed, and proactive in helping members achieve financial success and navigate their banking experience with confidence.

This role is eligible for a language stipend of $200/monthly after 90 days of employment

Salary range is $19.00 - $22.72/hr. Job Grade, NE 8. Final salary is dependent on a candidate&rsquo;s experience and qualifications.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:

<ul><li>Performs sales, service and operational functions in the branch. Delivers unsurpassed service that builds long-term member loyalty while effectively assisting with member interactions. Processes a variety of transactions promptly, accurately and efficiently to include deposits, transfers, withdrawals, opening and/or performing maintenance on new accounts, IRAs, CDs, loans, etc. in accordance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Serve as Lobby Leader by welcoming members, managing lobby traffic by determining Members&rsquo; needs, signing Members in to meet with branch staff and managing wait time.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Educate and support members on the usage of self-service and digital options such as the Vantage West mobile App, VantageWest.org, and ITMs to complete transactions and service needs.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Partners with Wealth Managers, Business Bankers, and Mortgage Loan Officers to connect members to experts who can help them with specialized financial needs.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Actively seek and apply feedback to improve performance and member experience.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Attend events representing Vantage West, including sponsorships, community outreach, and financial wellness. Support community relationships on an as-needed basis.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Be a resource to train new and existing team members as needed.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Follow established processes and guidelines in daily activities to do what is right for members and the credit union, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.</li></ul>

The Relationship Banker will be responsible for all customer service duties, sales, and relationship management while reaching or exceeding established goals. They will master First United Bank&rsquo;s delivery process and product knowledge to develop customer relationships by performing the following essential duties.
Essential Duties:<ul><li>
Maintains a basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies and appropriate regulatory issues relating to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending; Regulation E; deposit, transaction and loan accounts.</li><li>
Follows proper procedures accurately and efficiently for all customer-servicing activities performed.</li><li>
Retains existing customers and develop new customer relationships.</li><li>
Serves as customers' single point of contact on all First United Bank products and services.</li><li>
Consistently meets and often exceeds performance goals and actively participate in all sales campaigns; promote new products and services and educate customers and peers within the bank.</li><li>

Opens new accounts, certificates of deposit, and all other ancillary products offered by the bank; answers customer questions, provides account opening information, and ensures that proper paperwork is completed and entered on the computer system.</li><li>
Assist customers with routine questions and requests: balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfer, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy.</li><li>
Serves customers by processing a variety of transactions quickly with minimal or no errors according to established First United Bank policies and procedures; including but not limited to: accepting checks for cash and deposit; money orders, savings bonds, traveler&rsquo;s checks, cashier&rsquo;s checks, accepting and processing payments for loans and other services.</li><li>
Maintains appropriate drawer limits, perform cash versifications and vault duties.</li><li>
Verifies all transactions, places holds as appropriate and proves cash drawer upon completion of assigned shift to ensure compliance with First United Bank standards policies. Seeks assistance as needed to resolve proof discrepancies.</li><li>
Proactively resolve customer complaints, problems, or other issues.</li><li>
Reviews and resolves account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports on daily basis: assists customers with account charge-off repayment plans.</li><li>
Performs security functions by opening and closing bank and vault, and ensuring overall safety and security of bank grounds.</li><li>

Answers customer inquiries regarding products and services and fulfills basic servicing requests, such as new/replacement cards, information changes, PIN reset requests, reordering checks, and basic problem resolution
 
Develops relationships with customers, remaining well-informed about the customer’s relationship with the bank
 
Educates customers on standard consumer products and digital solutions such as mobile, online, and ATM offerings, all designed to make banking easier
 
Assists branch and fellow team members with basic tasks to aid in customer problem resolution
 
Refers customers to an internal team of experts when more complex financial goals and needs are recognized
 
Follows all bank processes and procedures and adheres to applicable laws and regulations, including completing duties delegated and assigned by the Branch Manager; as a member of the branch team, ensures sound banking practices, including managing, identifying and reporting operational risks
 
Achieves branch targets and goals by identifying customer needs and providing appropriate guidance and perspective about Regions’ solutions
 
May conduct outbound phone calls using generated customer and prospect lead lists to educate customers on emerging technology and assist with meeting their financial needs
 
This position requires the tracking of time for hours worked in excess of 40 per week and is eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

GENERAL SUMMARY
 
Travel to various branches within the assigned region to work as a substitute for Relationship Banker Is during absences, including vacations and emergency situations. Responsible for primarily handling teller transactions, providing operational support, cross-selling bank products/services, and resolving customer service issues. Process transactions with accuracy and efficiency while delivering an overall professional and exceptional customer experience. As needed, will open accounts and refer customers to other areas of the bank as appropriate. Follow regulations and bank security procedures to protect customers as well as minimize risk to the bank.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
Travels to branches to work as Relationship Banker l in the absence of the branch’s Relationship Banker l.
 
Operations

<li>Perform deposits and withdrawal transactions.</li>
<li>Reconcile and balance teller cash drawer.</li>
<li>Process outgoing wires.</li>
<li>Essential functions of Safe Deposit box (e.g. entry, opening, maintenance).</li>
<li>Assist customers with problem resolution.</li>
<li>Assist in ATM balancing.</li>
<li>Detect and report fraudulent or suspicious activities by completing BSA reporting as required, Currency Transactions Reports or Monetary Instrument Reports.</li>

<li>Perform all aspects of new account opening procedures for all bank products/services.</li>
<li>Answer customer inquiries, make appropriate financial solutions and recommendations and assist with problem resolution.</li>
<li>Perform customer service functions such as check orders, change of address, return mail processing, supersede signature cards, and other account maintenance changes.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality of customer information as well as Bank proprietary information.</li>

Sales & Service

<li>Identify sales opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services to ensure customers’ financial goals are met.</li>
<li>Provide quality personalized customer service, maintain frequent customer contact to expand relationships and ensure customer retention.</li>
<li>Maintain open communication with Bank business partners and make referrals as appropriate (e.g. Financial Advisors, Mortgage Loan Originators, Commercial Lenders).</li>

QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Education: College degree in business, accounting or finance preferred or related work experience.</li>
<li>Experience: 6-12 months of cash handling, customer service in a retail environment, or sales experience preferred. Banking experience is a plus.</li>
<li>Skill/Ability: Availability to work any shift matching the branch banking hours and/or staffing needs. A willingness to work a flexible schedule. A willingness to travel to multiple locations as business needs arise. Desire to learn the banking industry, help others, and work in a professional environment. PC literate and typing proficient. Previous experience with data entry, 10-key, banking software, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus. Detail-oriented and organized with good note taking and follow-up skills. Good oral and written communication skills – can write clear messages, initiate conversations, and talk to customers about products and services. Good listening and interpersonal skills – can listen without interrupting, seeks clarification, responds professionally, and keeps emotions under control in difficult situations. Ability to work independently and as part of team. Ability to give and receive feedback to improve skills and job knowledge. Can maintain good attendance and arrive consistently at scheduled start time. Bilingual English/Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) preferred.</li>
