About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
SMU Libraries seeks a collaborative and forward-thinking AI &amp; Digital Research Librarian to lead and expand support for artificial intelligence-enabled research and digital scholarship initiatives. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in partnership with faculty, students, and campus colleagues and thrives in the iterative nature of the research process, where exploration, experimentation, and refinement are essential to discovery.
This position is situated within the Research &amp; Digital Strategy unit of SMU Libraries, which brings together the Norwick Center for Digital Solutions (nCDS) and the Research &amp; Scholarly Initiatives (RSI) team to support AI-enabled and digitally driven research. The unit collaborates with faculty, students, and staff on artificial intelligence and machine learning, research data management, open access publishing, scholarly repositories, and digital scholarship, while connecting researchers with SMU Libraries&rsquo; distinctive special collections through digitization and digital preservation to advance innovative, technology-informed research.
Building on the success of SMU Libraries&rsquo; 2025-2026 AI for Research cohorts of faculty and graduate students, this position will support new and ongoing projects that incorporate AI to advance innovative solutions in research and teaching. Working in partnership with faculty, students, librarians, and Office of Information Technology (OIT) staff, the librarian will support prompt engineering, prototype research workflows, and advise on AI-enabled research environments. This role will further solidify the Libraries&rsquo; position as a trusted research partner while ensuring alignment with SMU&rsquo;s new strategic framework that will launch in fall 2026.
This is an exciting time to join SMU Libraries as it continues to invest in innovative spaces and partnerships that support scholarship. The AI &amp; Digital Research Librarian will be housed in the Research Lab within the Rees-Jones Library of the American West, a dynamic hub where researchers will engage with SMU Libraries&rsquo; special collections and develop projects that integrate rare and archival materials with emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning. In this role, the AI &amp; Digital Research Librarian will design and lead programming, workshops, and research support services within the lab, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and enabling researchers to explore new methods of discovery, analysis, and creative expression.

Essential Functions:
AI Research Strategy and Service Design<ul><li>
Assist researchers with prompt engineering to enable AI-assisted workflows.</li><li>

Serve as liaison between researchers and technical teams to ensure infrastructure decisions align with research needs.</li></ul>
Instruction and AI Literacy<ul><li>
In collaboration with subject librarians, design and deliver workshops and instruction materials for AI literacy in research.</li><li>
Educate users on limitations and biases of AI systems.</li><li>
Support the integration of AI awareness and AI literacy within research and information literacy programming.</li><li>
Collaborate with library colleagues to develop internal guidance on the evaluation, adoption, and use of AI tools.</li></ul>

Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Library and Information Science or advanced degree in other relevant or related field.</li><li>

Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The Law School is searching for a Reference and Student Outreach Librarian to support the research and instructional needs of BLS faculty, students, and other library users. The Law School&rsquo;s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate be part of a successful educational institution.
The Reference and Outreach Librarian reports to the Associate Librarian for Public Services, is a member of the reference team, and leads the library&rsquo;s outreach efforts. As a member of the reference team, this librarian provides reference assistance to library patrons; participates in weekend reference coverage; assists in developing and promoting instructional and user support materials; participates in the faculty liaison program; assists with other information services activities; and works on team-based projects. Our team has an immediate need for an experienced Data Hunter/Librarian to join our team at a customer-site in Mclean, VA to support the collection and management of structured data sets available to the customer. This includes data discovery, clean up, ingestion, handling updates and cataloging using current metadata standards.
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Search for data and supporting documentation that can be utilized in the customer&rsquo;s various applications.</li><li>
Flush out metadata information to keep catalog system to ensure entries are accurate and up to date.</li><li>

Motivating Students: This indicator focuses on a librarian&rsquo;s ability to organize and present the content in a manner that
 
motivates students to learn. For a librarian to be able to develop these types of learning experiences, a librarian must
 
have in-depth knowledge of the students he/she teaches. This indicator connects strongly to Librarian Knowledge of
 
Students.
 
Activities and Materials: This indicator addresses the variety and appropriateness of activities and materials that a
 
librarian chooses to implement during a lesson as well as resources available in the library. Librarians should
 
demonstrate and model productive ways to use the resources and tools in the library. In order to provide and plan
 
appropriate activities and materials, a librarian must have knowledge of the needs and interests of the students.
 
Promoting Literacy: This indicator addresses the librarian promoting good books, reading for pleasure, fostering a love
 
of learning, and building students&rsquo; personal curiosity by encouraging students to read widely and deeply in multiple
 
genres, and to write and create for a variety of purposes.
 
Promoting Inquiry: This indicator focuses on the librarian&rsquo;s implementation of an inquiry-based research process with

Librarian Content Knowledge: This indicator addresses the librarian&rsquo;s knowledge of the content he/she is teaching, as
 
well as his/her ability to implement strategies to support student learning. Also addressed in this indicator is the
