PURPOSE: 
The Salesforce Business Analyst supports the successful delivery of Salesforce consulting engagements by translating business needs into functional requirements and system specifications. This role serves as a critical link between business stakeholders and the technical team, ensuring that solution designs address customer goals and constraints. The Business Analyst contributes to project delivery through user story documentation, testing support, and end-user enablement activities. 
Business Analysts at this level are expected to build their consulting acumen while providing value across the project lifecycle through analytical thinking, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Business Analysts at Ascend have four primary areas of responsibility: 
 
Project Planning<ul><li>
Gather Requirements: Participate in discovery sessions and workshops to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements and user stories.</li><li>
Understand Scope: Support Consultants and Project Leads in understanding scope boundaries and defining minimum viable product (MVP) features.</li></ul>
Project Design and Configuration<ul><li>
Document Functional Requirements: Perform hands-on configuration tasks such as creating custom fields, page layouts, validation rules, flows, and reports under the guidance of Consultants or Architects. Contribute to solution implementation while escalating design decisions or complex logic to more senior team members.</li><li>
Support Solution Design: Assist in evaluating configuration approaches and participate in design discussions.</li><li>
Collaborate on Configuration: Support configuration tasks by preparing data models, fields, validations, flows, or templates as directed by Consultants or Architects.</li></ul> 

Project Management<ul><li>
Test and Train: Develop and execute test scripts to validate solutions, coordinate UAT with customers, and drive iterative improvements through testing and feedback.</li><li>
Support Training Delivery: Support change management and user adoption by developing training materials, job aids, and enablement content, and assisting with end-user training delivery.</li><li>
Demonstrate Project Delivery: Demo work as completed, obtain feedback, and adjust as needed.</li></ul>
Collaboration<ul><li>
Liaise Between Teams: Act as a bridge between client stakeholders and the delivery team to clarify requirements and priorities.</li><li>
Support Client Communication: Help document meeting notes, action items, and follow-up questions for delivery leads and clients.</li><li>
Learn &amp; Grow: Proactively engage in knowledge-sharing sessions, shadowing, and peer reviews to deepen understanding of Salesforce tools and consulting methods.</li></ul> 

MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
<ul><li>Education: Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience</li><li>
Experience: 1-3 years in a Salesforce Business Analyst or Administrator role<ul><li>
Required: Salesforce Administrator Certification</li></ul></li><li>
Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or related modules</li><li>

Typical Qualifications

<li>Salesforce Certifications:</li>
<li>Salesforce Administrator certification required.</li>
<li>Minimum 2 years Salesforce CPQ experience required, Salesforce CPQ Specialist certification preferred.</li>
<li>Business Analysis Experience: 3-5 years of work experience as a business analyst, or related role.</li>
<li>System Administration Skills: Proficiency in Salesforce system administration, including user management, configuration, and maintenance of Salesforce environments, as well as prior experience working with related systems. Experience with Conga a plus but not required.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Tools: Knowledge of tools including JIRA, Confluence, and SOQL. Experience with SalesforceDX, VS Code, BitBucket, and Git. Experience in creating and executing unit, integration, and user acceptance test plans.</li>
<li>Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business stakeholders at all levels of the organization.</li>
<li>Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and investigative skills.</li>
<li>Project Management Experience: Experience working in a mix of agile and waterfall project management methodologies is preferred.</li>
<li>Business Operations Experience (Optional): Familiarity with business operations processes and practices is a plus.</li>

 Brief Job Description
 
 
 
 The Business Analyst (Business Analyst II) position reports to the Director of Operations, Administrative Applications. The Business Analyst (BA) performs business analysis work in support of Rapid Application Development (RAD) using the Salesforce platform and in support of the HHSC Grants Management System. This role works closely with business owners through the product planning, requirements definition, and delivery of cycles for Salesforce solutions and web-based enterprise-wide usage. The BA is the bridge between the customer and the development team. Assists in the analysis of complex technical and business processes, identifying efficiencies and helping to prioritize needs. Coordinates the gathering, development, and documentation of all requirements. The BA works in partnership with Information Technology (IT) and subject matter experts, helping customers realize business value. This position works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Responsible for the creation and validation of system testing.
 
 
 
 Essential Job Functions
 
 
 
 Elicits and oversees the business requirements for the implementation of Salesforce solutions to solve system-wide business requests. When necessary, fulfills the role of the Product Owner to act as the voice of the customer. Accurately represents the business needs, and effectively communicates them with stakeholders and development team. Maintains documentation, including updates to system training materials. (35%)
 
 
 Creates and manages the product backlog by eliciting, and documenting all types of requirements as themes, epics, user stories with user acceptance criteria. Works with all stakeholders to prioritize the backlog into a complete and cohesive representation of a products&rsquo; roadmap, defects, and technical debt. (20%)
 
 
 Collaborates daily with manager to ensure product roadmaps and delivery of features follows a predictable and steady pace through daily stand-up meetings, product planning meetings, and other key ceremonies. Participates in Agile ceremonies and leads them when the Product Owner or Scrum Master is not available. (20%)
 
 
 Performs functional testing and manages User Acceptance Testing by ensuring adequate test cases exists and all User Acceptance Criteria are met. (15%)
 
 
 Develops a deep expertise with assigned application. Obtains stakeholder sign off on requirements and priorities. Performs other duties as assigned. (10%)

Appropriate experience including working on complex enterprise-wide applications and experience writing epics, user stories including acceptance criteria may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to four years.
 
 
 Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience working on complex enterprise-wide applications.
 
 
 Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in an analysis role that required complex problem solving.
 
 
 Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience with Agile methodologies &ndash; (Scrum, for example).
 
 
 Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience writing epics, user stories including acceptance criteria, and definition of done.
