Essential Duties:

A Service Technician II is a highly skilled professional responsible for performing complex vehicle repairs and maintenance. A Service Technician II plays a critical role in troubleshooting advanced technical issues, managing resources, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
 
Essential Functions: 
<ul>
<li>Liaise with dispatcher to receive repair orders; perform work specified on the repair order efficiently and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards, including hybrid and electric vehicles.</li>
<li>Identify mechanical problems using visual inspections or computer diagnostic equipment, conduct tests on parts and systems to ensure proper functionality, and examine all critical components.</li>
<li>Use diagnostic tools and software to determine the root cause of problems.</li>
<li>Report findings and suggest recommended repairs to the Service Advisor.</li>
<li>Perform a wide range of repairs, including engine transmission, electrical steering, suspension, braking, and air conditioning, including conducting routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.</li>
<li>Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed to the highest standards.</li>
<li>Test drive vehicles after completing repairs or routine maintenance to ensure that the issue has been resolved.</li>
<li>Drive vehicles around the shop or service area to either position them for further work or to free up space for incoming vehicles.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with Service Advisors and customers about vehicle issues, repair timelines, and explanations of repairs and maintenance performed.</li>
<li>Document all work performed, including parts used and labor hours; maintain accurate records of repairs and services.</li>
<li>Follow all federal, state, and local regulations governing automotive service and repair, including Cal/OSHA.</li>
<li>Work closely with other technicians, parts associates, and service advisors to ensure efficient workflow.</li>
<li>Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.</li>
<li>Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures—; including wearing protective gear and equipment as required.</li>
<li>Maintain a clean workspace.</li>
<li>Maintain satisfactory attendance.</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>3 years of hands-on experience working as an automotive technician.</li>
<li>Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California driver's license within 30 days following date of hire.</li>
<li>At least one year of verifiable driving experience.</li>
<li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.</li>
<li>Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.</li>
<li>Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Technical automotive certifications or Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications or equivalent technical training.</li>
<li>Experience in dealership setting.</li>
<li>Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools and software.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and customer service skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment.</li>
<li>Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.</li>
</ul>
Physical Demands: 
<ul>
<li>Physical ability to stand, walk, and work in various positions (e.g., bending, kneeling) for extended periods.</li>
<li>Manual dexterity to handle tools and small parts.</li>
<li>Ability to frequently lift 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.</li>
<li>Must be able to work in tight spaces.</li>
<li>Frequently bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.</li>
</ul>
Environment/Noise: 
<ul>
<li>Work in well-ventilated and well-lit repair shop.</li>
<li>Exposure to hazardous conditions and equipment that may result in minor injuries.</li>
<li>Frequent use of protective gear such as goggles and earplugs.</li>
<li>Work both indoors and outdoors, something in cramped spaces and awkward positions.</li>
<li>Regular exposure to contaminants such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers.</li>
<li>Work in close proximity to other technicians and mechanics.</li>
<li>Noise level is moderate.</li>
