<p><b>Position Title</b>: Michigan Certified Special Education Teacher</p><p><b>Reports to</b>:Special Education Coordinator</p><p><b>Salary Range: </b>starting at $44,000, contracted 185 days</p><p><b>Primary Function</b>: The primary function of the virtual Special Education teacher is to provide individualized instruction to all students on their caseload based on IEP goals.</p><p><b>Special Education Teacher Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>*<b>MUST HAVE MICHIGAN RESIDENCY*</b></li><li>Report to Special Education Coordinator</li><li>Assessing student skills and learning requirements in Fall or upon enrollment using Benchmark assessments.</li><li>Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.</li><li>Collaborating with parents and school staff to track students&rsquo; progress and report Quarterly sent to parent</li><li>Completing REED documentation for 3 year re evaluations</li><li>Complete REED documents for any new initial evaluations.</li><li>Assess students&rsquo; abilities and create lessons to target IEP goals.</li><li>Keep track of and reflect on students&rsquo; progress</li><li>Monitor student&rsquo;&rsquo;s behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed in collaboration with center staff.</li><li>Prepare students for transition to the next grade or post secondary through a transition plan.</li><li>Conduct live, virtual sessions with students in accordance with a schedule developed by the Special Education Coordinator</li><li>Document all parent/student interactions in Pulse</li><li>Inform parents about their children&rsquo;s performance and potential problems through meetings and progress reports</li><li>Collaborate with the support staff (e.g. school social workers and speech therapists) to create holistic intervention plans</li><li>Center visits as appropriate and requested, unless driving conditions are unsafe</li><li>Attend Student Service Team Meetings and individual meetings with Special Ed. Coordinator.</li><li>Weekly collaboration with center staff for students having IEPS</li><li>Maintain current certification</li><li>Maintain Pulse long term notes with IEP accommodations (update within 1 week of completion of IEP and submit accommodation changes)</li><li>Follow Communication Guidelines</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><p>1.Valid State of Michigan Special Education Certification Granted by the Professional Teaching Standards Board.</p><p>2. Ability to initiate and complete tasks with self-direction in a timely manner.</p><p>4. Excellent English and grammar skills, proofreading skills, oral and written communications skills.</p><p>5. Ability to effectively operate various systems and office equipment.</p><p>6. Demonstrated understanding of the use of technology in both instructional and operational settings.</p><p>7. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills including the ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications.</p><p>8 Must exhibit a pleasant personality and positive attitude toward working with administration, staff and community members.
