Surgical Support: Assist the doctor during surgeries, seat patients, and take vitals. Maintain competency in anesthesia monitoring, and ensure all consent forms and treatment plans are accurately completed.</li><li>
Patient Care Expert: Provide clear and concise pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients. Obtain necessary medical clearances and maintain excellent patient care standards.</li><li>
Compliance and Safety Adherence: Adhere to OSHA and regulatory guidelines, ensuring radiation protection for all patients and producing radiographic images with proper exposure techniques and anatomical positioning.</li><li>
Record Keeping and Documentation: Document and maintain accurate records/charting in compliance with established standards.</li><li>
Equipment and Instrument Maintenance: Prepare and maintain clinical equipment and instruments, ensuring they are in good working condition for each procedure.</li><li>
Interpersonal Relations: Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with patients, doctors, and team members. Approach conflicts constructively, identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.</li><li>
Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintain the confidentiality of patient, clinic, and hospital information, discussing sensitive information only among appropriate personnel in private settings.</li><li>

The Surgical Technician prepares and maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures, passes instruments to the surgeon and performs basic level assisting duties. Provide all supplies, equipment and instruments for assigned procedures, can serve as a second circulator, assist in monitoring use and ordering of supplies, function as preceptor, participate in cleaning of rooms, and equipment, and assist in meeting any other department needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<ul>

Minimum of one of the following: Graduate of a Surgical Technician school, military trained or licensed LPN with surgical technologist or surgical attendant experience</li>
<li>On-call duties which would require that you arrive at the facility within 30 minutes after being contacted by hospital personnel;</li>
<li>Surgery experience;</li>
<li>BCLS certified at the time of hire or within 30 days from date of hire;</li>
<li>Continuing education to remain competent in current standards of practice;</li>
<li>Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills;</li>
<li>This position requires On-call duties which would require that you arrive at the facility within 30 minutes after being contacted by hospital personnel;</li>
<li>Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit / department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.</li>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent activities in sitting, walking, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate must be able to lift 50 pounds. The individual must have excellent eye/hand coordination with the ability to grasp, push and pull, finger dexterity and fine manipulation. The associate must be able to reach work above the shoulder, and be able to use foot controls. This position requires corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The associate must have excellent verbal skills to communicate with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
This position is classified at risk for possible occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. (HBV, HIV, etc.).</div>

4. Maintains correct count of sponges, needles, and instruments with circulating nurse and report correctness of discrepancies according to established policy and procedure. Maintains and monitors aseptic technique at all times and institute corrective measures in the event of contamination.

5. Assists in care, handling and disposition of specimen according to policy. Assists in application of dressings, and in securing drainage systems. Assists in moving patient to appropriate receptacle, decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and reusable supplies and clean room as prescribed.

6. Assists the Registered Professional Nurse in performing circulating functions according to established guidelines

7. Assembles all necessary supplies according to requirements of the patient and surgical procedure. Provides special equipment before, during, and after surgical procedure, as needed.

8. Observes and protects patient by correct positioning, application of restraint, strict aseptic practice and maintenance of aseptic environment

9. Positions patient, adjusts table and accessories, as required for procedure. Prepares operative area and assists in draping as directed.

10. Assists scrub in maintenance of correct sponge, needle and instrument counts and reports discrepancies to the surgical team and charge nurse. Completes operative count, and related records accurately and legibly

11. Observes personnel in the room constantly, control traffic, report and correct breaks in aseptic technique promptly. Maintains and cares for all specimens as directed to prevent loss or damage

12. Assists in application of dressing, moving of patient and transfer to recovery room as directed. Assists in room clean-up and make preparations for next procedure

13. Assists nurse in preparing medications or solutions to be administered during surgery

14. Saves all medication vials and/or ampules until patient leaves the room. Announces in an audible voice the name, concentration, amount and route of administration of the medication.

15. Functions as a professional role model inclusive of acting as a preceptor for students, hires newly hired staff, and incumbent staff.

16. Demonstrates accountability for our practice based on institutional/regulatory agency policies/procedures.

17. Maintains clinical competence and is responsible for own professional development

18. Performs scrub and sterile instrument duties per established guidelines

19. Does not dispense narcotics or control drugs under any circumstances. Registered Professional Nurse dispenses these drugs to the physician. Performs functions to assist in meeting operational needs: Assists in transportation of patients to and from the surgical suite as directed. Participates in the care and storage of instruments/special equipment in the operating rooms

20. Assists in the maintenance of quotas of current dates for sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms and storage areas.

21. Assists in keeping operating room and sterile storage areas and equipment in good order. Assists in care of storage closets and cabinets 
Qualifications<ul><li>
High School diploma required. Graduation from Certified CST Training Program.</li><li>
Prefer experience in operating room setting.</li><li>
NBSTSA Certification in Operating Room Technology required.</li><li>
BLS CERTIFICATION</li></ul>

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $44.2276 - $59.5605 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. 8. Observes and protects patient by correct positioning, application of restraint, strict aseptic practice and maintenance of aseptic environment
9. Positions patient, adjusts table and accessories, as required for procedure. Prepares operative area and assists in draping as directed.
10. Assists scrub in maintenance of correct sponge, needle and instrument counts and reports discrepancies to the surgical team and charge nurse. Completes operative count, and related records accurately and legibly
11. Observes personnel in the room constantly, control traffic, report and correct breaks in aseptic technique promptly. Maintains and cares for all specimens as directed to prevent loss or damage
12. Assists in application of dressing, moving of patient and transfer to recovery room as directed. Assists in room clean-up and make preparations for next procedure
13. Assists nurse in preparing medications or solutions to be administered during surgery
14. Saves all medication vials and/or ampules until patient leaves the room. Announces in an audible voice the name, concentration, amount and route of administration of the medication.
15. Functions as a professional role model inclusive of acting as a preceptor for students, hires newly hired staff, and incumbent staff.
16. Demonstrates accountability for our practice based on institutional/regulatory agency policies/procedures.
17. Maintains clinical competence and is responsible for own professional development
18. Performs scrub and sterile instrument duties per established guidelines
19. Does not dispense narcotics or control drugs under any circumstances. Registered Professional Nurse dispenses these drugs to the physician. Performs functions to assist in meeting operational needs: Assists in transportation of patients to and from the surgical suite as directed. Participates in the care and storage of instruments/special equipment in the operating rooms
20. Assists in the maintenance of quotas of current dates for sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms and storage areas.
21. Assists in keeping operating room and sterile storage areas and equipment in good order. Assists in care of storage closets and cabinets 
Qualifications<ul><li>
High School diploma required. Graduation from Certified CST Training Program.</li><li>
Prefer experience in operating room setting.</li><li>
NBSTSA Certification in Operating Room Technology required.</li><li>

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $30 - $35 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.</div>
