<b>Position Overview:</b><br>
Working closely with the Senior Energy Program Manager, the energy program manager will undertake the following types of tasks:</div><div>
1. technical assistance to local government clients on energy sustainability topics</div><div>
2. research on projects related to policy and programs for sustainability, with particular emphasis on energy-related issues;</div><div>
3. serving as a point of contact for internal and external clients interfacing with the team;</div><div>
4. researching and writing guidance for best practices and/or case studies for sustainable municipal operations and sustainable community programs;</div><div>
5. developing content for, and organizing, outreach and training activities such as workshops and public presentations</div><div>
6. presenting policies, best practices, and case studies for expert and non-expert audiences.</div><div>
7. project oversight, including reporting progress and ensuring deadlines and milestones are met.</div><div>

Provide technical assistance to municipalities and schools to assist them in implementing energy and sustainability policies and completing Sustainable Jersey actions.</li><li>
Conduct research on policies and best practices; write reports with analysis and recommendations; assess projects and documentation of municipal and school program participants.</li><li>
Assist with outreach activity including development and implementation of workshops and trainings.</li><li>
Assist Program Manager with gathering internal data for periodic grant reporting and other data needs.</li><li>

Qualifications:</b></div><div><b>
Required:</b></div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field such as public policy, urban planning, engineering, environmental science, public or business administration.</li><li>
Associate&rsquo;s degree in a related field plus a minimum of three to five years of full-time work experience in a relevant field.</li><li>
A minimum of two years relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the relevant subject matter and program coordination.</li><li>
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate complex policy issues for non-specialist audiences in presentations and reports.</li><li>
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities, organize meetings, and manage multiple contact networks.</li><li>

The Energy and Environmental Services Department purpose is to manage in an environmentally responsible manner the City of Long Beach (City) and State of California&rsquo;s (State&rsquo;s) onshore and offshore production of oil and gas while maximizing production levels and revenues. To oversee the transition of the City&rsquo;s Southeast Resource Recovery Facility (SERRF) from its current decommissioning and demolition towards redevelopment of the site as a regional organic waste receiving and processing facility. To provide reliable and cost-effective refuse, recycling, and organics collection services to the City&rsquo;s ratepayers, supporting established sustainability goals and landfill diversion mandates while maintaining affordable rates and excellent service. To ensure compliance with all local and State solid waste laws and regulations.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
THE POSITION</b></div><p>
The Waste Diversion and Recycling Officer leads a team of staff within the Division working on projects and programs to meet state-mandated solid waste reduction requirements. This person will provide expertise on contract management, overseeing the City's Residential Recycling Contract and the Non-Exclusive Private Hauler Franchise Agreement (that includes 8 different waste haulers). This position will ensure contracts with private waste haulers are further updated and amended to increase compliance with all state laws, including but not limited to SB 1383, AB 1826, and AB 341. This position will support policy development (local, state, and/or federal) that supports waste diversion. Additionally, this person will support the Bureau manager in further developing new programs to increase waste diversion, reduction, and recycling.</p></div><p></p>

<b>POSITION OVERVIEW:</b><br>
The Manager of Freshwater and Temperate Marine Habitats works closely with the Director of Animal Care and Sustainability as a member of the Aquarium Leadership Team. The Manager ensures optimal care of the animals in the Aquarium and ensures compliance with all accreditation and regulatory requirements for departmental operations. The Manager oversees the husbandry of a diverse freshwater and temperate marine animal collection, including Amazonian species such as Arapaima, local freshwater exhibits such as Sturgeon Touch, and temperate marine ecosystems such as Kelp Forest. The Manager also manages a limited range of amphibian and avian taxa.
<br><br>
This position works closely with Animal Health, Environmental Quality, and Facilities to ensure the smooth and effective operations involving animals and habitats, especially as they relate to planning, animal husbandry, and welfare. They will also work with Shedd's Conservation and Research Team to advance in-situ and ex-situ research goals. This position works cooperatively with the dive program team and provides full support of the aquarium's SCUBA diving program as directed by the Dive Program Manager. This Manager also works with other departments, including Guest Relations, Learning, Events, Marketing, Development, etc., to provide access to animals and systems for public engagement

The Manager serves as a leader in the Animal Care and Science Division. They embody inter-departmental productivity and participation in strategies to meet institutional objectives and initiatives requiring support of the Animal Care Department and serve as an aquarium spokesperson as needed.

<li>Implement training protocols for proactive medical care for all animals under the care of the Freshwater and Temperate Marine Habitats team.</li>
<li>Collaborate with national and international breeding and conservation programs when appropriate.</li>
<li>Implement up-to-date husbandry practices and apply the use of positive operant conditioning principles in the day-to-day care and training of all animals.</li>
<li>Support the goals and objectives of professional organizations (AZA, IMATA, IAAM, ALLSO, etc.) as they relate to the aquarium and support team participation in these organizations.</li>
<li>Maintain a familiarity and basic working knowledge of life support systems, water quality parameters, and veterinary protocols.</li>
<li>Assist in the development of training protocols to elicit, encourage, and facilitate natural behaviors for all animals in Shedd's care.</li>
<li>Maintain compliance of animal welfare assessments reflecting proactive and reactive responses to medical conditions and concerns for animals under the care of the Tropical Marine Fishes Team.</li>
<li>Implement strategies for the Freshwater and Temperate Marine Habitats team to maintain and grow behaviors aligned with Shedd's mission and vision.</li>
<li>Implement a staff training program to build better welfare and sustainability through excellent husbandry, operant conditioning, public speaking, advanced operant conditioning application, and communication.</li>
<li>Demonstrates strong swimming skills and ability for the use of SCUBA to maintain aquatic animals, constructed habitats, and open water diving.</li>
<li>Demonstrates ability to adjust schedule on short notice to manage the needs of the animal populations and team. Must work one weekend day as part of the normal schedule, and as needed evenings, early morning, and holidays.</li>
<li>Manage other Aquarium teams when the direct manager is unavailable, as requested.</li>
<li>Partner with other managers and the director to develop budgets that support institutional priorities and implement those budgets.</li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge of all the primary animal groups cared for by the Aquarium team, especially as they relate to Freshwater and Temperate Marine Habitats.</li>
<li>Implement legal compliance measures such as tracking respirator use, adherence to OSHA standards, etc.</li>
<li>Work with other departments throughout the aquarium to meet strategic goals and objectives.</li>
<li>Liaise with professional colleagues as a representative of the aquarium.</li>
